In reply to: wp-custom-css not workingThat’s a good call! How would I go about finding out, and more importantly how would I *rectify* something like that?
Thanks for those tips Matt. I’ve viewed my site via private browsing, and via another IP, to make sure I’m seeing what the general public are seeing, and my site is definitely as it should be now. The trouble is though that I haven’t changed any files to make that happen – other than to get my admin access back – so whatever caused the issue is still in there, somewhere. I’d love that feature to check which files have been updated in the past few days, but I don’t have SSH. WordFence stubbornly insists I have no problems, so I’m beginning to wonder if WF itself has been modified by the hacker.

In reply to: [Smart Slider 2] Effectively a ransomware pluginPlease delete this thread. You won’t allow me to reply, and leaving it up insinuates that I couldn’t be bothered to reply when I clearly have on two occasions.

In reply to: [Smart Slider 2] Effectively a ransomware pluginHi again Esmi
Not quite sure why you’ve simply cut and pasted an irrelevant response, but again, there WAS no ‘error’. The plugin is effectively useless and serves only as a feeder to its paid-for sibling. How (other than the obvious ‘well you shouldn’t have downloaded it in the first place then’ which I accept fully) could a criticism that all the features are locked be in any way a possible ‘error’ on behalf of the user?Forum: Reviews
In reply to: [EasyRotator for WordPress - Slider Plugin] as per the other one star reviewsHi Esmi
There was no error to attribute blame to, either user error or otherwise. What is wrong with this plugin has, now I’ve read the 1 star reviews, already been amply covered by other people, hence my title.Forum: Plugins

In reply to: [wp-greet] Thumbnail doesn't call formHi tuxlog
Unfortunately no, it’s *not* easier. Because truapple, websta, and myself, have all simply not understood how this works and got it running correctly, and that’s just within the last day! Nobody is criticising because we’re all grateful to you for creating the plugin in the first place, but if you want it to be widely used then we really need some better instructions ??Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [wp-greet] How to connect WP gallery to Page?Like you websta I’ve spent a frustrating day trying to configure this almost by guesswork and come up empty. I don’t think it *is* broken, I just can’t get it running right, and without some decent instructions I’m just trying random stuff now. In fairness the plugin author’s English isn’t his native tongue, and I can’t imagine how hard I’d find it to give someone instructions on Worpdress in German!
I’ve followed pretty much the same steps as you and can get greetings sent by mail, I just can’t get it to put an image in the mail, or to link to an image. I only get the wp-greet form on a PAGE or on a POST that has an image (or more than one image) displayed on it, I can’t get the form to display as a result of clicking on any image, anywhere, whether it be a nggallery image, a single image in a page, or a wordpress native gallery.
And another vote to make the plugin responsive too please!

In reply to: Automatic updates failingJust to update this for anyone else suffering the same problem.
I was really worried about this, because a site without updates is much more vulnerable to hackers. Disappointed not to get any answers here as it’s always been such a great resource, but maybe nobody else has come up with it! Anyway, just came back to my desk after a few days and discovered that all my failed plugin updates had mysteriously sorted themselves. No idea how, or why, but the issue was resolved with nothing more than an application of time ??

In reply to: Automatic updates failingActually I WAS being mindful of the ‘bumping’ rules when I posted – by adding the Additional Info post I was inadvertently making it look like a post that had been responded to already, which of course it hasn’t! In an ideal world I’d edit the first post to include the info from the second, but the opportunity to edit is only there for a short time?
Nevertheless, thanks for the reminder, and if you’ve any clues on the problem, I’d love to hear!Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Automatic updates failingAdditional Info:
This domain has ALWAYS been slow and I wondered if timeouts were halting things. The WP installation is in a subfolder, /2013site/, because it isn’t finished yet and the old ‘zencart’ installation is still operating in the root. The root domain, shedtraders.co.uk, is loading reasonably, but shedtraders.co.uk/2013site/ loads a lot slower. I have another WP installation in another subfolder on the same domain, and THAT loads slowly too, and has also just failed to auto-update the same plugins. The fact that it’s happened to two completely independent installations of WP make me think it isn’t something I’ve done and is instead related to the domain itself?[Moderator Note: No bumping. If it’s that urgent, consider hiring someone.]

In reply to: [WooCommerce] how to import lists of products?Undoubtedly correct. On the other hand, I’m beginning to feel like woocommerce answer every question with “buy a(nother) plugin for that”. I too am looking for a way of editing dummy_data.xml, but woo’s answer is a plugin that I can’t afford and would in all honesty struggle to justify at that price even if I *could* afford it

In reply to: [WooCommerce] how to import lists of products?I think a $100 plugin isn’t quite the answer he was looking for. Kinda steers away from the ethos of wordpress…

In reply to: Hacked, restored, still at risk?I hadn’t changed the security keys so darling Mr Hacker’s cookies were still valid. Done that now. I’ve done a compare and contrast of ALL files on the wordpress install (using Wordfence) and it shows that there are no file edits or additions that I don’t know about. All plugins and WP itself are up to date, so I’m guessing I’ve sorted it now, but I’ve still got a nagging doubt because I haven’t found anything wrong

In reply to: [WooCommerce] Product Add-ons in add_to_cart shortcodeHi there
Did you ever get an answer to this? I’m trying to move the same plugin’s output but like you can’t find the hook. I think woocommerce is a sound plugin, pity that the support for it is absolutely awful despite paying for additional plugins ??
