In reply to: [WP YouTube Lyte] YouTube adsThanks! The reason I asked is because so far I haven’t seen any ads on my embedded videos. Tried multiple videos both on phone and desktop. I know it’s possible that YT is just not serving ads to me at that time. Is there a setting I can check too?

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Critical Error after updating to 16.3Hi,
Cache seems to be the culprit. I created a staging site and cleared cache and updated, and it was fine. Did the same on the live site, and it worked too. Thanks for your help, Michael!

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Critical Error after updating to 16.3Hi @mikes41720
Here:
– WordPress 5.7.2
– PHP version 7.3.28
– MySql 5.7.32-35
– My plugins are all updated. Right before updating Yoast to 16.3, I also updated one other plugin. The rest of my plugins were latest already before the day I updated these two.
– My Theme version is latest
– Yes, I was able to access my site again by restoring to previous version of my site. So right now, I am running my site Yoast 16.2, and do not want to risk updating to 16.3 until we discuss it here. After restoring my site, I updated the other plugin and my site is still fine.
– Please note, the error was not just on my dashboard (e.g. not just losing access to admin page). My entire site went down and cannot be accessed by visitors, so I lost site traffic when this happened.
– I haven’t added any new plugins. These sets of plugins are coexisting for a long time already. Are you saying with 100% certainty that there’s nothing wrong with Yoast 16.3 plugin? That it’s an issue with caching or other plugins? I don’t know if you checked the stack trace I included. It’s referring to Twitter Image Helper not being found specifically in Yoast SEO Plugin.
I am just trying to avoid attempting to update again with the risk of my site going down again and losing traffic and access to visitors.

Thanks for the clarification. Can you confirm that if I re-publish (not update) an existing post with a new date, will it send a notification again or not?
Thanks for the explanation on this. Is there a way for me to know which post have had notifications sent before vs not? This will help me strategize how I update the permalinks.
Hi James,
The initial reason for this thread is because when I updated the permalink of an old post with Subscriptions turned ON before, it sent notifications when I didn’t want it to. So I was told that the solution was to turn OFF Subscriptions when updating permalinks of old post.So now, I have Subscriptions turned ON and updated permalinks of old posts. At this point, I am fine for notifications to be sent to Subscribers. However, it did not send notifications after updating.
Honestly, I am fine with it not sending notifications. It is preferred. I really just want to know the expected behaviour since it’s been inconsistent from what I just explained above.
I have old posts where I don’t want notifications being sent on permalink update, and some where I’m indifferent. I don’t really want to turn OFF Subscriptions if possible because it would remove the Subscribe widget I have on the sidebar BUT I had to before because it was firing notifications for old post permalink changes I didn’t want notifications for.
Hope this makes sense.
Hi Fotis,
As I noted with my recent experience, I have Subscriptions turned on and it wasn’t sending notifications anymore after I update permalink. Why is that? The reason why it was left turned on is because I was ok for notifications to be sent. Also, it’s not because of some caching issue like before when I was turning it on and off. I have it on for months now and have posted new blog posts that did send notifications to subscribers.

Hello,
Can you confirm that there is an update that now resolves this issue? I have been updating permalinks recently with Subscriptions turned on, and now there are no notifications sent to subscribers. Just want to confirm.Sorry, my mistake. Yes it is turned on because that’s what James said above (“make sure that the JSON API module is switched on”)
When I need to change a post url, these are the steps I do:
– turn off Subscriptions
– edit blog post
– edit permalink
– click update
– turn on SubscriptionsOn another note, I just checked today and Subscriptions are magically turned on. Was it just a big delay in the activation?
Hi James, this issue is back again. This time, I tried both enabling thru Module page and Settings page to no avail. I have JSON API module turned off if you want to take a look.
It seems to be ok after visiting the Modules page. But now it’s too late because the post is published. ?? I’ll make sure to go thru the Modules page in the future.
