In reply to: Multisite: 500 Internal Server Error on launch of dashboardOn the aforementioned posting (referenced above) Ipstenu suggested that I point my subdomain to “/public_html/” as a solution, but (maybe silly question) what if that folder is empty? Meaning I have a /public_html folder but that’s not where WP is installed…? It’s installed at root. How do I point the subdomain to root, because the public_html folder solution didn’t work.
Later… pointed at “root” and still 500 Internal Server Error…

In reply to: Internal Server Error 500 Internal Server ErrorIt’s updated, but still getting the 500 Internal Server Error. See continued post conversation here.

In reply to: Internal Server Error 500 Internal Server ErrorP.S. Tried to access the Simple Control Panel, but as I don’t have a Dedicated Server, it’s a no go.
I set the folder for the astrology subdomain in GoDaddy to “/public_html/” and am waiting for it to be updated. I’m hoping that’s what you meant?Forum: Networking WordPress
In reply to: Multisite: 500 Internal Server Error on launch of dashboardFurther conversation with GoDaddy reveals that “you must install separate iterations of WordPress into each subdomain under shared hosting”. Am I missing something? I thought that the entire point of Multisite is to run two (or multiple) blogs under one site without having to configure each blog as it’s own site? No?
“A multisite network is a collection of sites that all share the same WordPress installation.” Has anyone made this work using shared hosting on GoDaddy with a dedicated IP?Thanks… argh.

In reply to: Internal Server Error 500 Internal Server ErrorGreetings, Half-Elf,
I just created a new post without first reading the rest of your suggestion here… (Woops!)
I’ll try that and then put the results of that effort into the new post.
Thanks so much for your response and I’ll keep you, um, posted.
Best,

In reply to: Internal Server Error 500 Internal Server ErrorHi,
I’ve run into what I think is a similar situation. I’m getting a 500 Internal Server Error when I try to load my Dashboard.
My main site is: luminancecoaching.com
My subdomain should be: astrology.luminancecoaching.com
How do I point my subdomain at my main luminancecoaching folder where the WordPress is installed? Where, specifically, does that need to be configured?
Getting a bit fried over here, so any help would be deeply appreciated.
Already installed Multisite, configured the wp-config & .htaccess according to instructions, purchased and configured a static IP with GoDaddy… just can’t get it to give me the dashboard!
Thanks much in advance!!Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: RSS Feed Broken 404… tried everything!Well… the people at Thesis theme are sure that this issue is WordPress related.
Resetting the Permalinks to default now works across all browsers, but resetting back to “Page name” still returns the missing page error.
The hypothesis from Thesis is thatthe WordPress rewrite rules for feed URLs are not working correctly for some reason — but the “why” is still a mystery to me.
Here’s a link to that conversation, if you’re interested…
So… I’m still looking for clues if anyone wants in on this one!
Thanks again!

In reply to: RSS Feed Broken 404… tried everything! Thanks, locked up the htaccess.
I’ll try contacting Thesis support and see what they say! I’ll report back here when I find a solution in case it’s of use to anyone else.
Thanks again!

In reply to: RSS Feed Broken 404… tried everything!Hi there, and thanks for your response! I’ll deactivate that SOPA plug-in in a moment.
Some new developments. Followed the suggestion of arkain283:
So what you need to do, is FTP you site, find your htaccess file (its under public_html). Right click on it (i use filezila) select file permisions, then check off read, write, execute for everything. The important this is to change “file permisions” for the htaccess file.
It will make more sense once you do it. Then go back in to WP, select setting -permalink, re-select your option, and save it. You should be all set, it should be https://www.yourdomain.com/feed. You should not get a 404 error anymore.
from: a post from two years ago.
And here’s what happened. As long as I leave the Permalinks set to default, when I select “Subscribe” my rss:
? shows up in FireFox (url: https://luminancecoaching.com/?feed=rss2)
? comes up in Chrome but is unformatted
? still shows a 404 in Safari.
When I set my Permalinks back to “Post name” all bets are off and I get nothing but 404’s. (url: https://luminancecoaching.com/feed/)
Somehow I feel the answer is as plain as the nose on my face… what am I missing? Thanks in advance!

In reply to: RSS Category Feeds Broken After Domain ChangeI’m so envious that that worked for you! I’ve got the same issue here, but Permalinks didn’t fix it.
I’ve been searching like mad but can’t find a fix. I keep getting a 404 when I try to subscribe to my rss and I’ve got lots of posts up there. Before I switched my site from .net to .com it was working. Now it’s not and I’m at my wits end… any pointers would be greatly appreciated!
