    Awesome! I didn’t realize I could get a version from GitHub but I’ll be sure to check there in the future…..IONOS managed hosting forces the use of the same Themes as WordPress.com, but apparently gets them from the www.ads-software.com repository. Glad to have this one figured out!

    UPDATE: I believe I have this resolved now, but it took a lot of sleuthing.

    I’m sure now that the hover effect is added by the Theme, not Jetpack. I did have to actually ADD some CSS to my Child Theme, commenting out the CSS of the Parent Theme (for the site branding) did not work.

    SO I added the same snippet of CSS to the Child-Theme stylesheet but changed the “transform” to ‘none’ and added !important.

    It’s no longer animated and my client is happy. Marking this as resolved. Thank you for looking at this, I do appreciate it.

I added the same snippet of CSS but changed the “transform” to ‘none’ and added !important. Then I had to force-clear my browser cache, I suspect because the managed WP hosting does not check for version or updated styles, it simply continues to keep loading the original stylesheet. Sigh.

    Hi again @kokkieh so sorry but I forgot to mention that in the Pique Theme’s stylesheet I did find this bit of CSS, but commenting it out made no difference, the site logo still does the odd animation thing on hover:

    .site-branding .site-logo-link:hover {
    	-webkit-transform: scale(5%);
    	    -ms-transform: scale(5%);
    	        transform: scale(5%);
    }

    I made a short (11 second) screen video of this, you can view it here:

    https://www.loom.com/share/af39f8ef9e574c59bb115a40d6eb0cbc

    I have this same problem cross-posted in the Jetpack forum since I suspect it might be caused by that plugin, not the Theme, but I really don’t know. All I know is without Jetpack there is no option to add a custom site logo, but with it the site logo animates on hover.

    Hi @deathlynotes I made a short (11 seconds) screen video because I think it will show you the hover behavior better than just a static screenshot can do, here’s a link to that short video:

    https://www.loom.com/share/af39f8ef9e574c59bb115a40d6eb0cbc

    After activating the Loom video tool I had to click on the Firefox browser page, then when I move my mouse to the Logo you can see how it changes.

    In the Pique Theme’s stylesheet I found this section:

    .site-branding .site-logo-link:hover {
    	-webkit-transform: scale(5%);
    	    -ms-transform: scale(5%);
    	        transform: scale(5%);
    }

    But commenting it out didn’t make any difference, so I honestly don’t know if it’s in the Theme or the Jetpack plugin, nor why it works in other browsers but not Safari, nor how to disable it.

    Hi @deathlynotes thank you, I don’t mind posting publicly, it’s just a small website for an independent feature film that’s in pre-pre-production. I got an answer in the Theme support forum, they don’t think it’s a Theme feature so best guess is it’s something in Jetpack.

    The site is here: https://somewheretorun.com/

    Fingers crossed….seems like it *should* be simple to override the hover behavior, where the logo bounces between tiny and normal size…

    UPDATE: VERY weird, I just clicked on the link I posted to be sure it worked, and it opens in Safari but does NOT do the hover behavior, it only appears to happen in Firefox, Brave browser, and Cocoon…..but oddly not Safari….hmmm.

    Hi @kokkieh – it is the same theme…..for this client I setup “managed” WordPress hosting thru IONOS, so that they wouldn’t need to deal with core, Theme, or Plugin updates, but with their managed hosting you can *only* choose from Themes offered at WordPress.com. Pique is really a great Theme and easy to work with.

    When I activated that Theme, there is NO option for adding a custom Logo in the Appearance > Customize >Site Identity settings (you can only choose to display the site title and tagline or not), *unless* you add Jetpack. The client wants their logo, but we don’t need Jetpack for anything else, but I cannot find a way to show a custom logo without Jetpack. If I deactivate Jetpack, the logo disappears. My best guess is that if you’re actually hosted on WP.com, then Jetpack is enabled by default, so you automatically get that setting. If you’re on another hosting platform (like IONOS), even if it’s managed, you must add Jetpack to get a custom logo setting.

    So I assume it must be Jetpack adding the crazy animation on hover. I posted this same question in the support forum for Jetpack but haven’t yet received any answer there.

    With some great effort I did manage to convince IONOS to allow me to setup a Child Theme for Pique, so that if I *could* manage to find a way to stop the hover animation it wouldn’t go away if the Theme or Jetpack gets updated, but I need more guidance…..I’m not a programmer but I am very good with WordPress and can add code to a child-theme functions.php or custom plugin.

    Perfect, thank you! It took me a minute to figure out how to update the Premium version but I did figure it out (great FAQs on your site!).

    I can confirm that I updated and tested using Quick Edit, the Settings for the download did NOT get erased now, so it is working perfectly!

    Thank you again for your amazingly quick support, and kudos on a terrific plugin.

    Hi @codepeople – thank you so much, I apologize I should have specified that I have the premium version so that we can protect the audio file and only play a preview snippet (which I set to 25% of the song) which is WELL worth the cost of the premium version – it’s awesome…..but my bad for not being specific!

    Also, further testing has isolated the problem to using the Quick Edit feature of WP (on the All Downloads overview page) so I have banned users from that feature for the time being! No quick-edits!

    It’s okay if it takes a while to update the Premium version, my banning of using quick edits will suffice for us for now.

    Thank you again!

    WELL I had a breakthrough!

    I’ve been pouring over your TERRIFIC documentation (it’s truly impressive as far as plugin docs goes)….and my eye happened upon a parameter for the [downloads] shortcode called “full_content”……

    SO I added that with a ‘yes’ and now my list of downloads shows the full content (which was short anyway) and it is using my HTML styles – so, success!

    I still don’t know why the excerpt filter override doesn’t work, but at this point I’m doing a victory dance because happy client = happy life.

    Marking this as resolved.

    Thanks @dgoldak, I deeply appreciate the help and totally understand about not providing assistance with custom code, no worries.

    Sadly though, this solution doesn’t work, I’ve been at it all morning trying to figure out why not, as it makes perfect sense to remove the EDD filter and add the filter to run the new excerpt function.

    I’ve tried clearing my browser cache, flushing the WP cache using both Settings>Permalinks (make a minor change and save it) and flush_rewrite_rule() in the functions.php (on any ‘save’ of a ‘download’ post), and moving that Improved Trim Excerpt code snippet to it’s own plugin after adding the Plugins Load Order plugin and ensuring that my plugins load after the EDD & Music Player plugins….no dice….

    What’s odd is that it works perfectly on standard WP posts and pages where I call the_excerpt(), just not on the downloads page that lists all my downloads with their excerpts. ??

    So next I will try creating a template file to see if altering the layout will let me control the styles of the excerpts, I just hate to go that route because I’d rather find a solution that will continue to work as Themes and Plugins get updated without my needing to keep a custom template updated as well.

    Thank you @misulicus that worked to show the button!

    I appreciate the very prompt assistance too. ??

    Hey Bikalpa, thank you for responding. I will mark this as resolved so it doesn’t negatively impact your support rating, but honestly I think post_offset is such a basic loop feature that it should be included in your free version. Every other magazine-style Theme I’ve tested includes it in theirs, for the most part the additional features you get by upgrading to a Pro level include more style options (fonts & colors) as well as additional widgets and page templates.

    But for a widgetized home page to not have a way to avoid duplicated posts by not including post_offset as a widget option makes no sense to me.

    Good morning @llifeform – when I looked at the live link this morning it looks very different from the screenshot, but as of now it appears that you have placed a logo “Country Norge” (nice job on the logo, by the way) in that area, which leaves the whitespace to the right of it (where the theme allows you to put something – generally an advertisement – to the right of the logo).

    That space won’t go away no matter what you do if you have your logo on the left, as the vertical height is needed for your logo, leaving whitespace to the right.

    So if you don’t want to use that space on the right for an ad, then I would suggest incorporating your Logo into the photo collage just above it, the image that is named “toppbakgrunn2.jpg” and removing it from the Theme customization which puts it below that image….if you have no logo displayed there and de-select the alternate option to show the site title and/or description, and no widget, then that entire full width area should collapse. If not it’s simple to hide it using CSS so if necessary post again and I’ll help you with that CSS.

    I think what you’re looking for is ‘colormag_header_sidebar’, all widget areas (aka ‘sidebars’ even though they can be place anywhere) are found under the Theme Folder > inc > widgets > widgets.php.

    However, another option you can make use of that is easier to un-do if you ever need to would be to simply hide that area using CSS and also use CSS to tweak the height of the header area, or hide the whole thing if you don’t need the space for your site title or logo (add your CSS in the Cusomizer in the Admin area under Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS).
