In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Links 404ing After Yoast 19.5.1 UpdateWhen this problem happened the first time I spent a week tracing down the problem. It came down to having no other plugins running except Yoast and the problem persisted. Deactivating Yoast always resolved the problem.
Just like last time I downgraded to a previous version. I am running Yoast 19.4 now and the site is running perfectly once again.
1. Your ad appears on the Dashboard, Media Library, every Settings page, every Appearance page, every Tools page, every Plugins page, every Users page, every Post page, every Page page, even on Custom Page Types. I can’t find a single back-end page where your ad does not appear. Yet you say it doesn’t appear on every backend page. I would be curious to know which one(s) it does not appear on because I cannot find any. I have taken plenty of screenshots.
2. Yes, you can close the ads, but they return every single time the page is reloaded. You offer 4 buttons on the ad: an X close box at the top right, “I Already Did”, “You Worth It” and “Maybe Later”. Not a single one of these buttons prevents the ads from returning when the page is reloaded. You may say that is not “forcing,” but I would disagree.
As far as functionality, I have only used your plugin as a secondary backup option and have never tried restoring from it, so I have only used it on faith that it would work if needed. Considering your response, my faith is very little now and I will solve this entire problem by finding another secondary backup solution.
I will leave you with this question I’ve asked myself. If I cannot trust the functionality of the buttons on your own ad, how can I trust the functionality of the buttons on your plug-in either?

In reply to: [Relevanssi - A Better Search] Revert to Previous Version?Thank you for the link!
We started developing a new site about a year ago and found your plug-in after frustration with the built-in wordpress search. I was just floored at the improvement. Not only were all the correct results showing, but the most relevant were at the top. I spent about a week afterwards tweaking the settings to make it even more perfect. As a nerd who loves databases I was in heaven with the results.
We are just about to announce the site in about a month and I was looking forward to telling people about the amazing search abilities the site had. Since we will have quite a few PDFs on the site soon, we felt the next step was the pro version.
Then, ironically, the bottom fell out. Right after an update the searches went bad. It would come up with completely irrelevant results. That seems fixed with subsequent updates, I think. However, search results are never comprehensive anymore (often 1-2 results when there should be dozens) and it doesn’t seem to have any concept of the most relevant results anymore.
I have read most of the comments from people that seem to be having similar issues as I have and tried everything you said to them that related to my install. I also noted all of my settings, uninstalled the plugin and tried searching with just the basic WordPress search, which still sucked, but at least was more comprehensive than the most recent versions of Relevanssi.
That probably doesn’t help answer your question, but quite honestly as a person who doesn’t understand the intricacies of what it takes to build the backend of a good search, the old plugin was like magic to a caveman. I meant no offense by my original comment, I just really miss the magic you had created.
I am able to optimize again with the update. Thank you for your quick response to this David!
I ditto mrkingid’s response above. For me, it’s “Tables using the InnoDB engine (3) will not be optimized. Other tables will be optimized (45).” I cannot do anything unless I tick the “Optimize InnDB tables anyway” button.
