It was not my theme or even Brands plugin but rather WooCommerce itself.

They released an update essentially at the same time as the Brands latest update and that is what caused the issue. They have rectified the issue with their latest update.

3.3.1 – 2018-02-06
Fix – Added woocommerce_output_product_categories to replace woocommerce_product_subcategories function to prevent outdated theme template files from outputting categories on the shop and category pages in err.
