In reply to: Comment errors for some WP users, incorrect passwordThanks, Esmi. I understand that there’s no connection to wordpress.com, but I don’t understand what he’s doing wrong and unable to make a comment. What password is he being asked for? I think he may be referring to the option in Jetpack Comments where you log in via your WP.com account in order to make a comment rather than entering name, email and website. There seems to be some kind of hang-up with that option. When we tried to log out of everything and make a comment as a new user, the pop-up window came up blank. It gets hung at that point, but if you close the window, it has in fact logged you in. Then the commenting will work. I don’t know.

In reply to: [nrelate Flyout] Flyout not appearing on blogHi Katrina–
Thanks for checking. I reindexed, using the “REindex” button, and it seems to be there now. Thank you!

In reply to: Trouble Changing Link ColorMost definitely! Thanks again, we are learning all these things as we go. Should have known better about the caffeine part though. ??

In reply to: Trouble Changing Link ColorWPyogi,
Thanks for the response. We did clear the W3TC caching plugin. As it turns out the coffee had not kicked in this morning yet.
I clear my browser cache and there were colors everywhere! Now going back and adjusting to what we really want.
Thanks!
This issue seems to have just started happening since we installed WP Total cache today. I don’t want to get rid of the plugin without a fair chance, but we’ve worked really hard on our slideshows, and they are an integral feature of our blog. Now some of them are just gone! Our site is https://turtlestravel.com and one post with an example of a page with broken slideshow is https://turtlestravel.com/dont-skip-gyeongju-south-korea/
We have this problem as well. The keyword most certainly is in the first paragraph of copy. I wonder if the plugin is looking at the photo caption as the first paragraph?!? I can’t figure out any way to make that silly light green either. So frustrating.
We tried to change the text of the [jetpack_subscription_form] using the method described by WCF, but when we did, it crashed our entire site (htttp://turtlestravel.com)! It started returning a Server Error, and we couldn’t access the WP Dashboard or any part of the blog. Only when we reverted back to the original text was it all fixed. Any idea why this would have happened? Were we editing the file in the wrong place/section? We were doing it via the Bluehost C-Panel within wp-content…seemed to be the exact path wcfphoto had referred to.
Thanks everyone for your valuable time and input. We think we’ve gotten a system down for optimizing and resizing images. We really do appreciate your help!
Thanks so much for your responses! So if I understand correctly, I should try uploading resized versions of photos such as the About Us and background (and probably others) to see if it helps. I’m sure the photos we are using in our slideshows are full-sized images as well, so in the future, when we create new content we should be resizing photos BEFORE upload. Do I have it right? And I can do that with any batch photo resizer? Any suggestions for one that works well for any of you?
I’ll also try and check the site speed for more clues. Thanks again!
Thanks for taking a look. Maybe it’s an issue with that default slideshow. When we imported the blog, we had to go back and redo all of the posts with slideshows, since they didn’t display at all. We thought the www.ads-software.com default version would be simplest, but maybe that was wrong. I guess I can try re-doing the Cambodia page using the new slideshow plugin we got recently and see what happens. I will also check photo sizes. I wonder if I need to resize the photos before uploading…maybe that would help. Anyway, thanks for trying to check it out and for your input! I appreciate it. We have some lovely photos, I think, but if they take more than a few secs to load, who is ever going to wait to see them? ;(

In reply to: Import from WordPress.com No Posts VisibleUpdate: I ended up getting all of the posts, most of the comments, and some of the photos/media migrated over. Photos are displaying in posts, but they link back to the wordpress.com blog. I also lost all of the Authors of the various posts, though the users were carried over and recreated in www.ads-software.com’s new site https://turtestravel.com
