Since my query I have palyed around further and managed to achieve what I was after. I had originally tried creating the new form associated with the Account Tab using the registration option. Tried it using the Profile option and its all come together. Thanks for your suggestion.

Went back and tried version 1.5.2 which bombed out with the following message.

Thanks for that. That explains it. I didn’t realize it went down the length of the column before moving to the next column on the right. have restructured my form accordingly.

Thanks so much for the prompt reply. I have deactivated 99% of the plugins on the test site and sure enough the Public List Columns available fields popped up.
I will activate the plugins one by on e to see which is conflicting.

Please ignore this request for some reason I have managed to get it working

Further to my query. I can register a new user from the registration page and that user appears in the new members list, but still can’t add one manually.
Wordpress version is 4.8.2
