Please read my original post, is that what you’re referring to?
I’m not the web developer, but what should I tell my web developer? I’ll have him read this thread. Again, we don’t have a secure https site, but not sure if that’s what you’re referring to or if that makes a difference.
What I still don’t quite understand for myself is why people who are already registered can’t login, when all we want this for is new registrations.
Yes, we have the latest version – 4.2. Had it for a while.
Another message just now from one of our team members for another site:
“Just FYI, we’re getting crushed with spam the past few days.”
I had to remove the plugin because too many people couldn’t login, and now I’m getting WAY more spam registrations than I used to. This is a nightmare.
I don’t run a secure site if that’s what you’re referring to.
I just got two other people telling me they can’t login, and that’s just people who were willing to tell me.
I’ve had to deactivate the plugin altogether until this is all resolved, if it can be resolved.
Turns out member_status was set to ‘2’ instead of 0: “BuddyPress uses this field. User who haven’t confirmed their registration (via email link) have user_status = 2, otherwise it is back to 0”
WP Admin
“I suspect this is related to the Email Login plugin. That error message certainly isn’t coming from WordPress core. Have you asked the plugin’s developer about this problem?”
This is a nightmare, even the ShareThis folks can’t fix the problem without getting into coding just to give them access to figure out what the problem is…

ShareThis Support replied:We are unable to view the theme editor option for the WP Account for which you have given us the access. It appears that only a Super-Admin can modify the themes.
You can refer the link for more info –

I don’t see how anyone should install something like this on their site, it’s like a virus.
@miled, a friendly inquiry re if this is still on the road map? Just checking to see if I should keep checking.
Thanks for responding. It isn’t, and we have other sites using this theme that aren’t having this problem, mainly because we didn’t install this plugin.
Here’s my response to ShareThis.
1. I’m not about to hire a web developer just to remove a plugin that they didn’t install. I installed the plugin, and if I knew I needed a professional to remove it I wouldn’t have ever installed it.
2. How do I remove this Smart Hoverbar you say I have installed? I never knowingly installed it, unless it came attached to this ShareThis plugin, and if so, see #1.If anyone can help me remove this incessant code, I would so appreciate this. It’s really slowing down our website.
Some feedback from ShareThis, though not entirely helpful, and even informing me that there are OTHER ShareThis components on my site that I wasn’t aware of, and that they don’t really know how to remove either.

ShareThis Support replied:We have checked your website, it seems that the ShareThis code is still present on your site. Below is the code –
<script type=’text/javascript’ src=’https://w.sharethis.com/button/buttons.js?ver=3.3.1′></script>
Please remove the above line from your website code, it will solve your issue.
We have also checked other pages on your WordPress site, it seems that ShareThis Smart Hover bar is implemented and it is also working fine.

I replied:Thank you for responding. I have two followup questions:
1. Where is this code (on a WordPress site)?
<script type=’text/javascript’ src=’https://w.sharethis.com/button/buttons.js?ver=3.3.1′></script>
2. How do I remove the ShareThis Smart Hover bar?On Apr 10, 2013, at 8:52 AM, ShareThis Support wrote:
1] The code is present in the HTML code of your site. You can ask your web developer expert to remove the code.
2] To remove the Smart Hoverbar, you will have to remove the complete code from your site’s HTML.Hope this answers your query.

It just doesn’t seem right to have all the help in the world to try a company’s product, but not have any instruction on how to get it off your computer, especially if it’s slowing down your website. I would not recommend anyone install this plugin given this unresolved problem.
