    Hello, I found a solution for this. Somehow, iPower deleted entries in my php.ini file. I had to add the following lines back to my php.ini in the root of my website:

    cgi.fix_pathinfo = 1
    cgi.force_redirect = 0

    Thanks for the contributions above,
    Richard

    My ISP still cannot figure out what they did. My permalinks are not working and so no links to my pages work.

    My permalink expert…where are you? What should I check? Help…

    I just read this post https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/170799?replies=7 about people having these problems after they upgraded. But…I have not even upgraded.

    Can anybody help me? The only permalink that will work for me now is the default. No others. And of course, since I have a bunch of existing content, means that all of my page names have changed and all links within my site and from others to my site don’t work.

    Help. Permalink expert. Where are you?

    Mech, I don′t see that at the bottom. I′m not sure my site uses .htaccess b/c it′s Windows/IIS. At least, I′ve never seen it. The only permalink choice that seems to work is the default. Hmmm…permalink geniuses…are you out there? I really don′t know where to turn.

    So, now my permalinks look like this: https://www.thisishowyoudoit.com/blog/?p=57

    …because ipower changed them. But they′re suppose to look like this: https://www.thisishowyoudoit.com/blog/index.php/2008/04/10-reasons-why-not-to-host-your-wordpress-blog-on-a-windowsiis-platform/

    My permalink custom box looks like this:

    /index.php/%year%/%monthnum%/%postname%

    It′s always worked to produce the effect above. But ipower did something to destroy them. What could they have done? Does anybody have any idea?

    It seems if i switch to default permalinks, everthing works. But even if i use the built in date and time permalinks, it doesn′t work. Help???

    This is absolutely unbelievable. Now, apparently, iPower has gone into my WordPress counsel and CHANGED my whole permalink structure which, most of you know, means that all links to my pages will not be functional. Unbelievable!

    Mechx1, i only just noticed this after apparently you were able to read my top post.

    Forum: Plugins
    In reply to: Feedburner UTF-8 errors

    (@tylerstyle)

    Well, I didn’t get a response on this but it’s ok. I solved the problem and, since everyone on this site has been so helpful, I have pledged to always put my solution in the ticket if I have one. There is nothing more irritating than seeing someone with the exact same problem and then the ticket is closed with a “solved it.”

    I’m writing a blog about what happened and the length of time that it took but I am going to post the quick and dirty here.

    I downloaded a plug-in that claimed it fixes all UTF-8 data problems on the entire site. I thought this was the Holy Grail. Turns out it wasn’t at all. The plug-in itself caused Feedburner validation errors.

    I then resolved to do it manually. The quickest way to do this is to go to the WordPress Manager Write tab, click the code choice, copy everything there, paste it Notepad, delete everything back in the word press code area (only in the body section, don’t create another document or you’ll probably change your Permalink!), then copy everything from Notepad back into the code area.

    That’s it. Fixed all my problems.

    AND, even better, I only had to do it on two articles…I thought I would have to do it on all of them. As I think about it, the “post from word” feature might work after all…maybe I forgot to use it the first couple of posts.

    Which is great because for some reason I’m extremely accustomed to create in Word and did not want to change.

    Anyway, I was so happy to have this fixed. Now people can subscribe to me here: https://feeds.feedburner.com/LiveYourWay

    Hope this is helpful, Thanks,
    Richard

    Boober/Drew, thank you guys for those helpful updates.

    Drew, I really like that font and spacing that you have on that link. Is there anyway way you can just paste the code for that in this ticket?

    If not, no biggie.

    Also, this is in the style.css body section correct? I have pasted it below:
    body {
    margin: 0;
    padding: 0;
    background:#eee url(img/bodybg.gif) fixed;
    font-family: Verdana,Tahoma, Arial, Serif;
    line-height: 1.5em;
    font-size: 10px; /* IE5 Win */
    voice-family: “\”}\””;
    voice-family: inherit;
    font-size: 10px; /* easy scaling */
    font-size: 0.76em;
    color: #333;

    Again, thank you all for the input. I’ll be making some changes Friday and I’ll update this ticket when I do just in case you want to take a look at how you helped a WordPress newbie ??

    Take care,
    Richard

    Marjiec,

    Thanks for the tips. I am going to give it a try. Do you have any tips as far as a better font. I don’t find this one as readable as some others that I have seen. Also, if I change fonts, does it throw the spacing of the theme off?

    Thanks a bunch,
    Richard

    Sygnin,

    I am having the same problem. Well-targeted ads on the content pages but on the front page only public service announcements.

    Did you ever find a solution to this?

    Thanks,
    Richard

    This fixed my issue. Though the link with the code above is not working, type in CGI ERROR in the search box and you will receive their new link for it…which is here: https://wordpress.pastebin.ca/924003?srch=cgi+error

    On the bottom of this page, they have the code for you to copy and paste into the file referenced above.

    Hope this helps,
    Richard

    Thank you all for your help with this issue. It seems that iPower may have resolved it on the backend…even though they never responded to my ticket.

    Resolution: The db_host value that they original said now works.

    Thanks again for the responses,
    Richard

    PS: Now I am getting a CGI error so I might have to post again ??

    Michael, thank you for the information. This is the same name provided by ipower web that is not working.

    Still trying to get a hold of ipower. Well, I can actually get a hold of someone but NOBODY is able to help.

    I have even told them that they could erase all my databases and start from scratch. Just demonstrate to me that you can create and connect to a database and I’ll take it from there.

    And…nothing. They have not been able to do that.

    Otto, thanks for you response. Since they’ve done this “upgrade” to vdeck and their entire backend, ipower has had many problems. It’s amazing with 700,000 customers that they cannot answer a simple question like this.

    Anyway, I have tried both both domain name and username to no avail (also tried names from sql admin tool and ip address and nothing).

    Maybe I’m caught in some sort of unknown upgrade state.

    If anybody out there has any other information that could help, that would be great.

    Somebody must have done a manual installation of WordPress on ipower’s new platform. Where are you??? ??

    Thanks all in advance.

    –Richard
