In reply to: [Private groups] bbPress Topic is Listed as a Recent TopicP.S. I tried to donate to this plugin using one of the links on the settings pages. The PayPal interface refused to let me change the $0.00 default amount!

In reply to: [Private groups] bbPress Topic is Listed as a Recent TopicYes, the problem definitely involves native bbPress widgets! Now I am exploring the options offered by your plugin and will report back after experimentation…
Thanks again for this plugin and for your prompt and conscientious support, Anna

In reply to: https BluesMagic? Maybe the search/replace trick worked after all and it took time to do the job.
You are a PRINCE for holding my hand during this ordeal!!!

In reply to: https BluesI have tried both my existing search/replace plugin and the “better” one that you recommended. I entered ~change https://forums.typeheritage.com to https://typeheritage.com~. Neither worked (no changes made): after clearing the cache, the same display problems persist on the static “home page”: https://forums.typeheritage.com/.
The next step is to check the .htaccess file. Now my problem is that when I search the bluehost file manager for it, it lists multiple choices and none of them leads to a file with this name. I’m in over my head…
As an interim workaround, I have added a link labeled “Display Problem?” to the menu above where the header image should be. So far, clicking it leads to a perfectly displayed bbPress topic explaining the situation. Standard WP pages look as expected too—the https is gone:
https://forums.typeheritage.com/topic/security-blues/
BTW when arriving at the home page via a google search, when entering the URL in the address dialog or from a link at either of two related sites, it displays correctly WITHOUT the https path in Firefox but not with Chrome.
Regardless of browser, it looks the same when clicking the link in my original post. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!!!

In reply to: https BluesI have consulted BlueHost about https. I was told that they support only ONE sub-domain free of charge. I prefer a different one.
I did not use a plugin to invoke https. It just happened outta nowhere. I installed no plugin that accounts for this crazy thing.
Will a search/replace plugin fix this problem? I have already installed one called

In reply to: https BluesUnfortunately, I cannot afford the monthly cost of protecting *all* of my sub-domains with https. My host covers only one for free. At this point, I most need to protect the one that will store my partners’ commercial downloads [bazaar.typeheritage.com]. Maybe when income from this eCommerce site begins to generate income, I can upgrade to “across the board” https.

In reply to: https BluesThank you SO much for trying to help me! I’m a historian—not a web designer, so I don’t understand your suggestion:
For starters, what is “mixed content”? What do you mean by “all *tables*”?
Since I want to KILL the https setting for this site, is it wise to redirect everything to it?
Thank you again for your kindness, Anna

In reply to: https BluesP.S. I have just discovered that this problem affects only the static “home page” of forums.typheritage.com. bbPress topics and standard WP pages display as intended—header, sidebar and top navigation links are okay. Examples:
https://forums.typeheritage.com/topic/lattice/
https://forums.typeheritage.com/measurement/Crazy, huh?
forums/typeheritage.com is policed up-one-side-and-down-the-other by very effective firewall and anti-spam plugins—it does not need further “protection.” My final goal is to transfer the https option to a sub-domain storing commercial downloads.
Can you help me to permanently restore the home page to its intended appearance?
Thank you again for your guidance, Anna
Thanks so much for your outreach! I’m a semi-novice at coding, so I’m bit intimidated by the proposed solution.
The images I need to display are type specimens, which *must* be single-column, full-width previews expected by customers.
Can you recommend specific shortcode parameters that will execute this result?
Thanks again to EDD for a *fabulous* eCommerce plugin, Anna

In reply to: [Meks Flexible Shortcodes] Unwanted TabsThanks so much for your response. I apologize for the delay in my reply. In the meantime, I tried several other tab shortcodes. The same problem occurred, and it looks like there’s a conflict with another plugin. So I’ll contact the other one for support so I can continue using MKS, which I like a LOT!
Thanks again, Anna

In reply to: [Easy Table of Contents] Capitalization StylingThank you SO much for your prompt and extra-helpful response! Since I’m a typographer, I’m super-picky about how text looks to site visitors, who are also typographers.
The code you supplied worked perfectly. The TOC looks better now than before, and I can live with it. I don’t love it because it lacks contrast with the H1 headings (color, bold, etc.): https://bazaar.typeheritage.com/invitation-questionnaire/
Your SEO heading-hierarchy tip may be the solution… Maybe I should rethink the formatting of heading levels with this reality in mind.
Thanks again for this cool plugin and for your most generous attention to my concerns.

In reply to: [TablePress - Tables in WordPress made easy] Revert to earlier version? What a crazy “virtual world” we live in, huh?
Yes, even after clearing the caches of both browsers that I use (Firefox and Chrome) and of the site itself (WP Super Cache), the opaque background prevails as as shown in the screenshot.
Your super-diligent followup convinces me that there may be a stubborn cached image “stuck” somewhere in the interaction between Windows, WordPress and browsers that may affect only MY viewing experience.
I will surely test this conclusion with reports from friends and colleagues with different configs.
You are a PRINCE! Anna 0x0x0x0x0x0x0
