This is my second attempt to reply to this old thread. I don’t know why my previous response half a day ago disappeared… I’ve edited that message a few times, to clarify my thought…

I found this thread from search engine, and it’s what I’m looking for. I’m wondering if we can have the permission to “see/compare revisions” get separated from the permission to “edit/publish revisions/posts/pages”.

It’s because I have set my site like the following:
– Author: Can write and edit Draft, but can’t Publish posts
– Editor: Can review Drafts from Author, make necessary edit then Publish.

What I hope is that Authors can “compare revisions” (but they can’t “publish revisions”), so they can learn from what Editors have edited. I hope Authors can “compare revisions” from posts that they are not authors too, so they can learn from other post edits.

I’ve installed the User Role Editor plugin too, but no matter how I do the settings, I can’t make want I want above. Would anyone have suggestion on this? And anywhere I can submit the above suggestion to WordPress development team?

May be I didn’t elaborate my thought clearly.

Actually on WordPress, we have set the Authors can only submit posts as pending, and can’t publish any post. Once the post is published, they can’t edit too. In this way, we can make sure all content is reviewed by Editor, before publish to actually appear on our website.

Now just we can’t do that on TablePress for tables inside our published posts (they can still edit those tables), that’s why we have such a suggestion.

Just to let you know our concern. I understand you’ll implement features depending on popularity of requests.

What if just add a lock flag for each table, which can only be changed by Administrator? By default it’s unlocked. But then if Administrator lock a table, it need to be unlocked in order to be edited or imported to change it.

I love TablePress, but this issue just seems insecure for my websites, as it seems any Author can change anything in the old published tables as they want, and they can publish something unlawful on the websites via this…

Thanks. But I want to be able to filter with hostname. Do you have suggestion on the easiest, and may be cheapest solution? I can pay for the Export to Excel addon, but it seems won’t have the hostname info exported…
