Ok thanks for all the advice its been emotional LOL

turns out that Sam was right and it was due to me being on MSSQL not MYSQL

I have since changed this and the install screen loads however…..

I am now stuck on;

It will not accept any password I enter into this step of the install

jeez ive setup up three of these so far and by far this has been the most troublesome

my host is 1&1 and I created db using their “MS SQL Administration”

yes I know the name servers of my actual server as I had to input these into the config file

thanks all I have deleted the MYSQL db and I gonna try setting up a new one with new db username etc see if that works

if it does the same thing again I will try what Debil says then if that still doesnt work I will get onto 1&1 (my host)

this is the message I get when trying to load /wp-admin/install.php

I know the file is 100% there

I followed all of those instructions Gangleri

im having a similar problem however I have changed hostname

Ok i tried changing my theme to the default WordPress theme and the permalinks worked!

I now know that this is a problem with the theme I am using!

I assume that one of the php files is corrupt – any ideas which php file this would be and a possible fix?

i have tried to upgrade to 2.6

and now this error

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: force_ssl_admin() in /homepages/37/d223045540/htdocs/ukmma/wp-settings.php on line 390

I have established that this is a permalinks issue as it seems to be affecting all of my permalinks

I havent changed the format and the information i have found from WP doesnt help much wit hmy problem

ok mate that seems to have sorted it on the front page

but if you look on the archive section the boxes arent showing

could this be when i wrote the post the visual editor was on ?
