It took renaming the plugin directory and enabling debug mode. In hindsight, I probably should have been just fine with the first part of that.
I was pretty surprised when I saw that the blame was Query Monitor. That didn’t seem like it’d be able to take the entire site down, but it sure did. I was down for like five hours.
Recovery wasn’t too bad, once I found the culprit.
I really should set up a staging site and disable automatic updates. I’m just too lazy to do so.
Anyhow, good job at putting out the fires. By the time I noticed, the upgraded plugin was available. I’d removed the original entirely so it just needed a clean install of the most recent version.
I do have to wonder how many people this screwed over and how many people do not have the skills to fix their site. Then again, would those people have Query Monitor installed in the first place?
Meh… It just needed to have debug mode enabled and some careful cleanup. Thanks for the rapid updates to get it squared away. (I meant to send this message hours ago.) I’m sure it was a hectic time at your end of things, knowing that you’d caused a whole lot of hurt on the ecosystem – albeit temporary.

In reply to: [Optimize Database after Deleting Revisions] Welcome Back!I’ve waited to respond to this, just to see how things were going to go.
So far, it has been great. Thanks for the work.

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Quality indicator in the admin bar has gone missing…Thanks for your suggestions. I’ve been exceedingly busy as of late. I’ll give that plugin a try to see if it helps.
It’s not a major problem. I write well enough to keep it in the green more often than not. Plus, all the salient information is available below the editor. It’s not a crisis situation.
Again, thanks for the ideas. I’ll run though the troubleshooter at least, probably early this week. This is definitely a back-burner issue.

In reply to: [Yoast SEO] Quality indicator in the admin bar has gone missing…Sorry about the slow response, but I’ve been pretty busy.
That’s the option! It was enabled… It has always been enabled…
However, it’s enabled. I tried turning it off and back on again. I dunno what happened, but it’s broken on my site. I hadn’t touched Yoast’s settings in months and months. It just works, until now.

And, of course:

So, it doesn’t show up and it is (and was) always enabled. I tried disabling it and turning it back on, which just seemed like the thing to do.
No, there are no errors visible to me. There are no errors in my logs.

In reply to: [YASR - Yet Another Star Rating Plugin for WordPress] Causes a 500 error?!?Sure enough, a few days later, it did the same thing.
I can access the admin control panel. It’s just the front end that keeps falling over and throwing 500 errors. I tried on three different connections, just to eliminate that. (This time around, I was alert for it and didn’t get anyone reporting it to me.)
I’m just going to leave it disabled for now. I’ll try again with the next version. Once again, I hadn’t changed anything. Fortunately, the outage was short-lived and I caught it quickly. Still, it does a number on my statistics. LOL

In reply to: [YASR - Yet Another Star Rating Plugin for WordPress] Causes a 500 error?!?For whatever reason, it’s surely beyond my skill level, this appears to be working. Then again, that version was working for a few days and then the error started happening.
I’ll keep it enabled for the time being and will update this in the near future to let you know the results, be they positive or negative.
Thanks.

In reply to: [YASR - Yet Another Star Rating Plugin for WordPress] Causes a 500 error?!?I’m using “Version 3.4.9” already, but I’ve got a few minutes to test.

In reply to: [Optimize Database after Deleting Revisions] v5.1 Security IssueI check in every so often, hopeful that the plugin will return.
I sort of wish I didn’t uninstall it, as the security issues don’t really apply with my site as I don’t have any privileged users who can send requests to the system.
None of the other DB cleaning plugins are set it and forget it types of plugins.

In reply to: [Urvanov Syntax Highlighter] Disable “highlight” by default…What I like best is that this no highlighting was applied retroactively. So, my old blocks of code match the new blocks of code. There’s consistency and no need to revisit those old articles. That’s awesome!
(More people should use this plugin. It’s the best code block plugin in the entire WordPress repository. Trust me, I tried ’em all.)

In reply to: [Urvanov Syntax Highlighter] Disable “highlight” by default…Yeah, it doesn’t appear to want to let me send you any money. No matter which card I use, it doesn’t appear to want to process the payment.
I suppose you can’t use PayPal in Russia?
I have a good memory for this sort of stuff. When/if things clear up and I can send you funds, reply here and I’ll get you sorted out. I just want you to be aware that I absolutely appreciate your help, your plugin, and the speed you had with responding.
Sadly, there doesn’t appear to be a way to send you a bit of money to help compensate you for the many, many hours you’ve invested in this plugin.
I’ll mark this as resolved.

In reply to: [Urvanov Syntax Highlighter] Disable “highlight” by default…I should mention that the money.yandex.ru doesn’t work for me. So, I can’t send a donation that way. That’s why I asked if there’s a way to donate or send you a few bucks.

In reply to: [Urvanov Syntax Highlighter] Disable “highlight” by default…You are awesome!
It works, though I’d add the checkmark to the window you use when adding code – just as a reminder.
Otherwise, it’s awesome and I’m very grateful. Is there some way I can financially support this plugin? I’d throw a donation at this plugin for that type of service.

In reply to: [Urvanov Syntax Highlighter] Disable “highlight” by default…No, I tried that. That only shows plain text. But thank you very much for responding. That is appreciated.
I want to have the fancy color and header bit like you see in the pictures. That option just shows the plain code, which isn’t what I’m after. For some reason, I didn’t get an email notifying me that you’d responded. The option is definitely checked. Ah well… I’ll remember to check manually.

In reply to: [LiteSpeed Cache] Can’t change/modify/save changes of any kind…I also just noticed that I can mark a thread as resolved.
I have done so, but please be sure to read the post before this. Again, I’m grateful for the help.

In reply to: [LiteSpeed Cache] Can’t change/modify/save changes of any kind…It took some learning but I want to mention that it required the repair.php operation to fix this. Once I did that, the server threw a 503 a couple of times, and then I could reload the page.
I then verified that I could save stuff.
Which is when I realized I was completely disconnected from the service and all my settings were gone.
The help page (thank you) should have mentioned that, so that I could have exported my settings and imported them when I was done. Thanks for telling me! LOL
Could you do me a quick favor and maybe verify that I’m all connected properly again? Other than that, I’m probably good to go. It looks like everything is okay at my end. Like I said, I’m a paid customer of QUIC.cloud (though it’s not that expensive) but it appears to be correct at this juncture. I think I have everything connected properly.
It certainly looks connected properly:

And, seriously, you should have a warning on the bit about repair.php – that they’ll reset all the settings so they should probably export their settings ahead of time. I’ll know this for next time, but it was a pain in the butt.
Either way, I am grateful and it’s working properly – I think… I’m 99.99% sure that it’s working properly. I think I got the settings back where they should be. If not, I’ll probably be able to figure it out.
