In reply to: [DELUCKS SEO] The same description on each pageThank you. Changed my review to reflect that.
If you want to see the missing images (and check why it happens) let me know how I can send you a screenshot.
@cais: I really appreciate your efforts. There is no development version of the site but would it help if I would make a backup from the httpdocs folder and the database and send them to you for investigation? I don’t think the customer will decide to go back to NextGEN but if I can help you test it and eventually find a problem, if such exists, I’d like to do that.
@cais: As I said I disabled all plugins and all themes. I was left with the classic theme and no plugins, same effect.
Sorry, that’s a productive web site of my customers, I cannot give you access to that for bug fixing.
without all of the details of your site
Sorry, no idea what more I can give you as information. Standard WordPress website, offered over a standard hosting solution, using Plex Desk, using “Post name” permlinks and the gallery does not work.
For people who might land here in the future: There is some order of disabling the themes and plugins which fixes the behavior. I couldn’t identify the order – it sometimes works, sometimes not.
Also once the page with the gallery is edited, it breaks again.
I gave up on NextGEN Gallery and went for another plugin.
@tizz: Thanks a lot for your help, greatly appreciated!
I tried to disable the plugins and the theme. Suddenly it worked. I then started enabling them and it worked until I enabled all of them. Then I republished the page and it broke again (without enable/disable of plugins).
Now I disabled all plugins and activated the default theme and it still won’t work.
I cleared the cache, just in case changed the browser – same thing.
tizz:
Try this: set permalinks to default, save, refresh, clear cache and see if it works – then set again your custom permalinks.

Yes, you were correct, there was a permlink setting: “Post name”. When I go back to “Default” it starts working but the URLs become unfriendly.
So setting the permlink to default fixes it. Setting it back to “Post name” breaks it again.
Unfortunately it is not possible for me to go back to default theme and remove all plugins, etc. because I will have to redo everything from the beginning.
I think those were all suggestions, or am I missing something?
@tizz: Yes, you were correct, there was a permlink setting: “Post name”. When I go back to “Default” it starts working but the URLs become unfriendly. Is it possible to have “Post name” permlinks with NextGEN Gallery?
About anagram’s problem: when I have the permlinks set to “Post name” and some configuration of NextGEN Gallery (not sure which one any more because it was when I was trying it out) I got the exact same issue as him, so maybe his can be solved in the same way. But you are correct, it is a separate one.
I haven’t set any kind of permalinks, so I don’t even know where to set them to default. Can you give me some more hints?
What I meant with nobody seems to know is that I can’t find anything in Google (what I first tried). I don’t even find anyone discussing similar issues while there are already two of us here having issues with the links.
I don’t think that’s exactly the same issue. I think NextGEN Gallery will add those parts in your example to show what has to be displayed and it should also handle them (but as far as I can see here as well, it doesn’t).
Strange that nobody seems to know about those problems that arise in the very first use of the plugin, although it seems to be very popular and regarded as very good.
Another bit of information: I am using qTranslate for multilanguage support. Could that be the problem?
Any ideas?
It’s hosted on a public host service, Linux environment with Plex Desk. I can get more details if needed
