The problem appears to be narrowed down and seems to be a permission issue. After running a new test with the latest WP version, I was still logged in as “Administrator” by chance. Under this user, the upload works without any problems. From the “Contributor” role onwards, uploads are possible. The permission ‘upload_files’ is not required, but the permission ‘edit_posts‘ is. Unfortunately, this means the plugin remains unusable for our users with “Subscriber” roles. Why this problem only occurs in the presence of WooCommerce remains an open question.

I tested it again with the latest plugin version of WooCommerce. Updated the suspected plugin from 8.2.2 (latest one without blocks) to 8.7.0 (latest version). All plugins deactivated, then activated:

    • BuddyPress 12.4.0
    • with and without BP-Classic 1.4.0
    • BuddyPress Docs 2.2.3
      BuddyX Theme 4.6.7

No running other custom snippets (bp-custom.php)

    Testing:
    (A) Leaving WooCommerce disabled: ok (file is uploaded)
    (B) Getting WooCommerce enabled: error (An error occurred in the upload. Please try again later.)

BTW: In both cases there’s no access to [Media Library] (endless loop).

    Fresh Installation:
    WP 6.4.3 / PHP 7.4.33 / MariaDB 10.4.22
    [CentOS 7 / Apache 2.4.6]

Thank you for the tip, but downgrading WP to version 6.3.x is not an option, and neither is giving up on WC.

It’s a pity, but I find sticking to WP standards commendable and this issue persists with the current WP 6.5-RC4. However, it should be noted that “file upload” works on a fresh WP 6.4.3 / BP 12.4.0 / BP Classic 1.4.0 installation as long as WC is deactivated.

I will continue to wait for an update because currently this plugin appears to be the best approach for handling documents within BP Users and BP Groups.

Meanwhile, this problem has been reported by two other users. I’m grateful for the voluntary work on this plugin, but a brief response after nearly three weeks would be appreciated. If additional information is needed, I am happy to provide it. Thank you very much.

    Thread Starter user4forum

    (@user4forum)

Thank you for the prompt response. But, please what do you mean by ‘kick-out’ users?

I’ve checked the settings of the chat rooms again and additionally deactivated the last option ‘Auto add users with following roles to this chat room,’ unfortunately without success.

If I select another WP role under ‘RESTRICTIONS’ that the ‘user to be excluded’ also possesses, then all other chat users also lose access.

    Restrict from viewing message

    Edit Chat Room

Who can reply in this chat room?
    [x] WP-RoleX

Auto add users with the following roles to this chat room

This great plugin offers a thousand options, but ‘such an option’ is clearly missing:
-> Auto remove users with missing role (no access)
    -> [X] WP-RoleX

    Thread Starter user4forum

    (@user4forum)

    No problem.
The | first position | represents the remaining tickets, and the | second position | represents the status of the booking button. The brackets just simply indicate whether the display is correct [OK] or not [NOT-OK].

    Once again:
If the maximum number of tickets is booked, the visible status to everyone, except the booker, is set to 0 | Event Cancelled. ‘Event Cancelled’ is definitely the wrong designation in this context. The event is just fully booked but not cancelled.

Maybe it’s worth mentioning that the file ‘events-manager.js’ has been modified in order to make it work for cancelling events. Please refer to my previous support ticket for that issue. Thanks.

    Thread Starter user4forum

    (@user4forum)

Sorry, I have to report that the booking/cancellation button still does not work in version 6.4.7.1. The placeholder #_BOOKINGBUTTON is placed within Default Event Grid format.

If you click the “Cancel” Button after having successfully booked a ticket you get this error message “Cancellation Error. Try again?”

This is fixed if you comment out line 621 and 628 in /…/events-manager/includes/js/events-manager.js as advised in this forum.

    Thread Starter user4forum

    (@user4forum)

First of all, thank you very much for your answer. I also agree that development costs money and that is why a Pro extension of this plugin is offered. This is certainly suitable for everyone who (want) to use this plugin commercially and also needs substantial things (import/export).

The free plugin is very good, especially when it comes to user published events in conjunction with BuddyPress. Fairness also means that money has to be spent on similar plugins and its extensions for this functionality. Nevertheless, it is annoying and frustrating to keep encountering “seemingly” familiar problems.

I have now used the questions to examine the one and the other in more detail. In fact, two of the four reported ‘bugs’ have been resolved. The first point is clearly my fault, the second has now been corrected and the third may be irrelevant and the fourth, with the proposed change, will be eliminated in the next update.

In this respect, I apologize for incorrect criticism as well as the somewhat harsh tone overall.

Maybe still interesting for some people:

    (1) ‘Missing’ grid format – wrong shortcode
Did use this shortcode, with a additional snippet I somehow got from this forum.

    [events_grid long_events="1" location="10" scope="all"]

    Forum: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/new-shortcode-events_grid/

    This shortcode is (currently) correct:

    [events_list view="grid" ...]

    (2) Booking buttons that don’t work for cancellations – javascript

    /…/events-manager/includes/js/events-manager.js
    Forum: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/booking-cancellation-causes-error/

    (3) Typo SQL Error – maybe deprecated query but still annoying and reported long time ago

    Forum: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/overall-good-plugin-but-response-to-obvious-code-error-for-4-months/

    (4) BuddyPress User published Events – Missing URL Domain when trying to edit a published event

This error was introduced with 6.4.7. Solved by uncommenting line 60 in the above file.

    Hello,
thank you very much for the quick response and the provided update. I have installed the new version on a new BuddyPress environment and a ‘custom’ date format (d.m.Y.) is now correctly displayed in the user profile.
    Best regards

    Thread Starter user4forum

    (@user4forum)

    Hi Andrea,

unfortunately your suggested snippet doesn’t work. If ‘date’ should output the current date, user profiles with older date entries will still be displayed.

In the meantime I have found a less elegant solution and have the BPS page updated regularly (cronjob) at midnight with a variable placeholder.

    TODAY='date +%Y-%m-%d'

This is also how the original shortcode works.

    [... AND field_76_range='$TODAY, 2024-12-31']

Thank you very much for your support.

    Thread Starter user4forum

    (@user4forum)

    FYI,

the cause was that the WC Coupon option was disabled.

“Enable the use of coupon codes” [WC General Tab -> Enable coupons]. The pricing plugin seems to require this to be activated (default).

Maybe the cart discount function in this plugin will also work without an active WC coupon option in the future? Then the “Coupon Code” buttons and “Apply Code” remain hidden as coupons are not needed in our use case and these buttons only confuse customers.

Probably only a few shops have deactivated coupons, otherwise many operators would complain about the lack of a cart discount in your plugin.

    Thread Starter user4forum

    (@user4forum)

Ok, first of all I guess I have to apologize. The cart function actually works. So this ‘BUG’ seems to be on ‘my’ side.

I have now completely reinstalled WP, installed WC, created a test product and finally installed your pricing plugin. In this the 50% cart rule is activated and the discount is actually displayed.

So, this support thread can be closed with this.

    Thread Starter user4forum

    (@user4forum)

The ‘Settings’ page is set to default.

‘Apply all applicable rules’ therefore applies to:

    • Product pricing
    • Cart discounts
    • Checkout fee

    Steps to reproduce:
Install WP (standard theme), install WC, install your plugin. Set just a pre-defined standard rule (e.g. 50% campaign) within Cart Discount.

Cart discount doesn’t work. Neither with a single rule, nor with several together (50% + 10€). The combination of product pricing and cart discount does not work either. The only thing that seems to work is the product discount.

I’m starting to think that the promised functionality is not present in this (light) plugin. A screenshot from you of the promised cart discount would be informative. Or am I simply misunderstanding invoice discounts?

    WP 6.4.2 | WC 8.4.0 | YaYPricing ‘Lite’ 2.4.9.2
    WP Standard Theme (Twenty-Twenty-Four)
    PHP 7.4 | MariaDB 10.3

    Thread Starter user4forum

    (@user4forum)

Thanks for the prompt response. Unfortunately, further actions on my part are not possible.

Finally, I tested a few WP standard themes (in addition to BuddyX). The “functions.php” was also checked again. These would have been the last sources of error but the ‘bug’ remains.

In the next few days I’ll keep an eye for an update and otherwise I’ll look for another plugin. It’s a shame, because this plugin offers a (very) good range of functions.

    Thread Starter user4forum

    (@user4forum)

    Steps 1 to 3.
    1. Enable pre-defined standard cart discount rule.
    2. Select a single product for cart.
    3. Missing promised (50%) discount as “Subtotal” and “Total” are equal.
