I couldn’t agree more. I actually wouldn’t even mind the notification spam if reading it meant I could dismiss it. I don’t like being forced to hide notifications–though you can bet I’ve already implemented that solution–in case there’s something I actually NEED to know. What you’re doing is forcing people to ignore you, instead of just doing the absolute most common and only correct thing to do with notifications: Allowing the user to mark them read.
