The way I look at it, people who use this plugin will be asking for donations, so they shouldn’t be too surprised if they themselves are asked to do what they ask of their visitors, and donate.

Are you sure you set it up correctly ?
What directory do you have your pictures in ?
Is that directory writeable by the web server (for thumbnails/captions etc.)?

I suggest you install lazyest gallery instead. It’s got more features than lazy gallery.

1. activate plugin
2. use “plain” editor
3. click on the button to add a video
4. specify video id (the thing after the v= of the video url)

That’s called, “security by obscurity”

People do that with ports, i.e. run ssh or smtp on some random port number instead of the standard port.

With your solution, there still has to be one file that is guaranteed to be in an exact location, with an exact name: wp-config.php

You have to know HOW to connect to the database to get the names of the other files.

If that’s what you’re pasting in your post, then you’re bypassing my plugin altogether.

To use my plugin,
1. switch over to the simple editor
2. click on the button to display a video
3. paste the video id when prompted (i.e. VxjiCyE2gd0)
4. sit back and enjoy the video !

If you want the image to NOT be a link in full view mode, perhaps you’d be interested in my hide/show plugin.

With it, you can wrap the “self-img” tag inside an “excerpt-only” tag. Then wrap a “full-only” tag around another image that gets displayed when the post is viewed in full view mode.

You could use my “self image” plugin. With it, you can put an image before the more tag that links to the post in full view mode.

i.e.
<!--self_img--><img src="whatever.jpg"/><!--/self_img--><!--more-->
would display whatever.jpg and allow visitors to click it to view the rest of the post. There’s no styling so the link/image will display as your css commands it.

There’s nothing tricky or blurry about charging for software/services that enhances/augments GPL/open source code.

This practice has been going on forever and is thoroughly encouraged. Ever heard of a company called Red Hat ? How about a tiny operating system called OS X ?

The only thing not allowed is passing off someone else’s work (whole or in part) as your own. That particular scenario is not what the original poster asked about. They asked about charging for original code that works with open source code; and that scenario is in total compliance with many of the open source licenses out there.

Not related to your bandwidth, but you can minimize your db activity by installing the wp-cache plugin.

With plesk, do you have the ability to see which files are the most popular (i.e. use up the most bandwidth) ?

I know with some site monitoring packages that option is available.
