In reply to: should I add www ?I’ll suggest you stick with one format for consistency. The reason is that say you use https://mydomain.com
When you mention your site in third party websites even for Backlinks, Promotion and while leaving comments on other blogs, google treats both the URLs https://mydomain.com and https://www.mydomain.com differently.
Technically speaking, although they point to the same root Search Engine does not know of this fact and therefore may penalize your site for duplicate content as it’ll feel there are two different sites with same content.
For SEO’s perspective its advisable to use one and stick with it. Also, use redirection from https://www to https:// or vice versa from the Domain Control Panel so that if by chance you use a different from somewhere the Page Rank benefits get transferred to the one you want.
I hope this helps

In reply to: New to WordPress –Please HelpYou would need to edit the CSS mainly, please look into a Addon for Firefox called FireBug. Its worth your time as you can inspect each and every CSS element of a page and even edit it too see real-time changes.
It’ll help you code CSS as you can then understand by looking at various similar themes and use the same styles if required.
A CSS mainly uses a class and using a good IDE like dream weaver, code is automatically generated. Just give it a shot, its not as hard as it looks.

In reply to: Connection ErrorThis is something weird. WordPress tells you if it finds a problem with the database and host prior to installation.
If it reported everything is alright then I do not think you should have any problems. Please check Database Host name : Sometimes it differs from the default localhost
Also at times, the Web Hosts append various numeric codes to the Database name, so please check the same also.

In reply to: adding blog posts from other blogsYes, it can be done by importing feeds from other blogs using aggregators and feed syndicators. One plugin in WP-Syndicate which allows you to import feeds and create automatic posts.
Please keep in mind though that it might violate the copyright of some blogs and it will harm your SEO due to duplication of content. So do it only when necessary.
