At the moment, the plugin generates alt text for all images regardless of the post type, so it applies to WooCommerce products as well as posts and pages.

However, adding an option to limit it to specific post types is an interesting idea, and I’ll consider it for a future update. Thanks for the suggestion!

Hello! Yes, the plugin works when a product and its images are added via the REST API.

However, for the alt text to be generated automatically, you should not include the alt attribute in the API request. If an alt text is provided in the request, the plugin will not override it.

Let me know if you have any questions! ??

    Hi staipa,
it looks like OpenAI APIs are not able to access the images on your website.
When I try to navigate to some of these urls via browser, I get this error:

    Error 1011
    Access denied
The owner of this website (www.staipa.it) does not allow hotlinking to that resource (/blog/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/image-2.png).

Probably the fact that hotlinking is not allowed for images causes problems for OpenAI in getting the images.
Please try to enable, at least temporarily, hotlinking on your web server and try again to generate the alt text again.

Let me know if the problem persists even after this change.

    Hi,
you probably haven’t made any payments on your OpenAi API account yet. You are still using the free tier, right?
If so, you are getting this message because the gpt-4o model is only available to users who have made at least one payment of $5 or more.
    Here is the reference: https://help.openai.com/en/articles/7102672-how-can-i-access-gpt-4-gpt-4-turbo-gpt-4o-and-gpt-4o-mini#h_f472fd7cbc

To solve the problem, simply add money to your OpenAi API account credit balance.

    I hope this is helpful.
If not, please let me know.

    Cheers

    Hello,
if you are using the Azure API, the available languages are retrieved directly from the Azure translation service. You cannot add additional ones because it would be impossible for Azure to do the translation.

On the other hand, if you are using the OpenAi API, if you need to use a particular language for your alt text, you can simply edit the prompt asking to create the alt text in the language you want.

I hope I have answered your question. In case I have not, please provide me with more details.

Hi, I confirm that the OpenAI API does not support SVG loading.
    From the official documentation:
We currently support PNG (.png), JPEG (.jpeg and .jpg), WEBP (.webp), and non-animated GIF (.gif).

    Hello, yes it can.
Once you have configured the plugin you can generate the alt texts of the already existing images either in bulk or one image at a time.

    Hi,
    thank you for your review.
The massive alt text generation of images already uploaded to the media library is under development and will be available in the next plugin release ??.
I think you will only have to wait a few days.

    Hello,

Thank you so much for your feedback and for using my plugin!
I’ve already planned to add a feature that will allow for bulk selecting images to add alt text directly from the gallery. This is definitely on my development roadmap as a priority to further enhance the plugin.

However, at this moment, I’m unable to provide a specific timeline for the implementation of this feature. My commitment is to work towards making this functionality available as soon as possible, while also ensuring that the integration is smooth and that the overall quality of the plugin remains high.

Please keep an eye on future updates of the plugin for this and other improvements I’m planning. If you have any more suggestions or questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
