This works on Firefox but doesn’t display yet on my site. Why not? it’s a nice subtle band of colour to add interest to the bottom line.

what plugin would Konstatin recommend here for footer, because I’ve tried activating a few and Footer Put didn’t change anything.

I don’t have child themes functions file, any altering of the functions file shuts me out of the site and dashboard requiring using a back-up from the host, NO WAY, I don’t have FTP, isn’t there another way to code some background style to the footer? Say a band of colour an inch or so around the text. I’ve hunted through the footer code and the only changes I can preview in Firefox are altering the text and colour, not the surround padding. Can anyone help, or better still can Konstatin make us a footer widget?

I’m still struggling to customise the non-footer. I just write in my credits directly into the footer.php file in place of the stuff there. I haven’t tried making a link.

But I cannot find a plugin that will provide a widget area for a proper footer, (every time I add code the functions php file as instructed to register a new widget area, the whole site shuts me out, so I have to use the backup from the host provider). I am not using FTP, just working directly to the host. ps I’ve just found metaslider plugin does a neat job of fitting a slideshow on the page without altering the widget side bar dimensions. It prefers to have landscape photos which fit better.

This code is in firefox, but I can’t find it in the editing sections of the dashboard. But when you alter the colour numbers it does change….but pasting this code into the child them does nothing…..and the Jetpack php has none of this code in either.

you’re a genius! it’ worked! I deleted it, although it said due to any error, it couldn’t delete the files, but I deactivated it and the margin’s much wider and normal now! THANKS.

ah thanks, ok I will delete that as I haven’t used it yet I don’t think.

I’ve got a tiny right margin but not as big as it was, it’s odd. I haven’t altered any code for margin layout. Only for colours and styles.

at last well done ,I was about to mention permalinks…..Anyway well done for studying more….it’s a learning curve which is ever upwards I find!
