UpDraftPlus is very cool to restore your site at a previous stage, if u r logged in.
But I am not sure how to use it to restore via ftp, as it saves different parts at different folders – not the same tree structure. I am working on it.
It is new to me.

Any ideas how can the hack prevent login and change credentials?

Most likely they accessed the root folder of my account and thats how they hacked all the websites.
So, I would like to secure the account first if possible, before start fixing the sites one by one. Is this a good logic?

THE SOLUTION
(for my case)

I had to disable secure DNS from my antivirus (following this link)
which did the trick…finally..!

That didnt solve the issue either.
Still getting an arror in Console about a Shareaholic file.

Found the root problem.
In Chrome Console I get this error when loading the page:

I had a similar issue a couple of days ago where my Antivirus Comodo was blocking some downloads from Envato Market.
It was actually blocking s3.amazonaws.com.
I had to temporarily disable antivirus to get the downloads.

So the problem here is caused again by my antivirus blocking Shareaholic URL.

Will probably make a permission for amazon servers.

Could someone confirm that it all works fine in Win 8.1…?

My apologies for any misleading comments, if any.
I am a bit persisting on this because it is the best available plugin out there and for some strange reason it is not working for me now on this PC… BUT, it used to work fine at the past!

I saw the ‘as featured on’ section at the bottom…and either I dont recognise it …or some sites like Mashable, PC World, BBC ..dont seem to use it anymore.
I think the first time I saw Shareaholic it was on Mashable some time ago and thought thats a great ‘go social’ functionality. But now it is not using it (is it?).

Could you please provide some links with websites that use shareaholic …so i can cross-reference?

Could you please confirm the OS you are viewing these with..?

In Win 7 it seems to be working fine both in Chrome and FF.
Android also.
Any of you using Win 8.1 …?

[If this is inappropriate for this thread …I should mark this as resolved and start a new one. Yet, it did work fine in the past, up to Sept Oct even on this PC.]

Surprise..!

I am afraid it did not finally get resolved.
And I mention this because I said it was a Windows Update issue.
Well..it is not!

Today…I loaded the pages again…and the default settings are displayed instead of the custom ones.
And this is only for the desktop PC with Win 8.1.
The laptops and mobile view it fine.

I dont know what else to say for now.
If anyone else has similar issues and finds a solution, please make a note of it here.

After a lot of puzzled moments …this gets finally resolved by installing the optional Windows updates that where available some time now.
At least this did it for me.

OK…this must be a local PC issue.
Somehow…something.

Tried on 2 other machines…and it renders fine.
On a mobile device too.

I am not sure where to start. Maybe check some available optional updates for windows. Will report back if I resolve this.
