    Hello,

    And thank you for using our plugin. At this point we don’t have this functionality but this is a great feature and we’ll think seriously to integrate it in one of our next releases.

    Thank you very much for your good feedback.

    Hi there dmipham,

    We do have recent experience with the functionality your mentioning here, with another plugin we’ve built that pulls Twitter, Facebook & Google+. Site visitors can Like/Retweet/+ any one entry from the display on our site ~ but only if the visitor signs into Facebook and/or Twitter to do so from within our site.

    This adds considerable heft to the plugin, where with Easy Instagram, we’ve built this plugin with size (volume of code) and page load time specifically in mind and are promoting it on those two qualities. So at this time, we don’t have this functionality on the dev list for Easy Instagram.

    However, because Instagram recently started displaying online (on computers as well as mobile devices) you can now click through on our plugin via each image’s displayed username to the user’s online Instagram page. Certainly if you have our recent version of Easy Instagram, you have the same ability –to follow a user, or <3 a user– once you’ve clicked through on a username, then logged in to Instagram, via Instagram.

    Thanks for the brainstorm. Keep ’em coming!

    Hi there TheMedici,

    This plugin is designed with size / load time in mind and specifically promoted for those qualities. The more that is pulled, the more time it will take for your page to load. It was decided that 10 was a good limit for these reasons.

    However, we had received a logical argument for increasing the limit at least to 12 – because with 12, there are more block-tiling options, like 2×6, 6×2, 3×4, 4×3, rather than just 5×2/2×5.

    It is likely that you will see an increase to a limit of 12 per display in near future versions.

    What you can do is feed multiple displays, like using two or three widgets, or using multiple Easy Instagram shortcodes on one page/post. I like to (for instance) feature 4 images from each of 4 hashed tags on one full-screen layout page, side by side, so that I’ve got a 4×4 gallery featuring four tags for a total of sixteen images on the page.

    Hello,

    Add this in you style.css file:

    div.easy-instagram-thumbnail-wrapper{
    width:150px;
    float:left;
    display:inline-block;
    }

    Cool tip for coder-types! Thanks, barkins.

    Hi there brucewyne,

    The way the plugin is supposed to work within our plugin, is that in between the time set to cache (e.g. 10 minutes), and the next time the cache period (the 10 minutes) expires, it pulls a copy of the Instagram image/s from the local cache rather than Instagram, to speed up performance.

    From your description, it appears that your site is not building a cache. It seems like it may be an issue between your installation of WordPress, and our caching function.

    If this is the case, every time a user is loading the page, the page is waiting for new information directly from the Instagram servers.

    If you’re a technical user, you can do the following:

    You can find out what the particular caching problem is by enabling the WordPress debug output, and it can be traced from there.

    To activate the debug output, edit the wp-config.php file and change the line:

    define('WP_DEBUG', false);
    to
    define('WP_DEBUG', true);

    Hi Susan,

    Hmmm, that’s certainly supposed to get you what you need to continue on with your user id. On our screenshots for this plugin,

    https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/easy-instagram/screenshots/

    …the Easy Instagram settings page should look like the screenshot “The WordPress plugin settings page for “Easy Instagram”. The user id is displayed at the bottom.

    If your Easy Instagram Settings page does not include the lower portion with the User ID like in the screenshot, we would be happy to take a look and see what we can do.

    Please contact is if so at https://www.velomedia.com/contact/ and provide your site url and a temporary WP login. We’d like to get you up and running with Easy Instagram.

    Hi Suzy and Brian,

    We agree that Suzy’s suggestion is the easiest and the recommended procedure to load most WordPress plugins. For this plugin in particular as with most or all WordPress plugins that are free through www.ads-software.com, one should not have to access the directory to load, setup or administrate them.

    We’re sorry, Brian, you’d gotten detoured to the file directory and for our delayed response. I think our load options can be confusing when the easiest “…Or, search for and download “Easy Instagram” from the WordPress repository found when pressing ‘Add New’ on the Plugins panel in WordPress.” loading option was listed last in a long paragraph.

    For future users, that paragraph will be reformatted with the easiest option clear and first.

    Hello Christian,

    We will definitely add this option in the next release.
    A workaround is to change the line 710 in index.php file and to replace
    $published_by .= $elem['user_name'];
    with
    $published_by .= $elem['caption_from'];

    Please let us know if this works for you.

    Hi Seemap,

    Thanks for the great review by the way!

    We’re pleased to have included (among others) the following features in today’s ‘Easy Instagram’ release (v1.2.3):

    * An update to the new Help/Installation tab for the ‘Easy Instagram’ page under Settings in your WordPress CMS menu
    * Photo author’s displayed usernames now link to their profile on Instagram

    And we’ve included increasing the photo display limit on our feature development list for possible inclusion in future versions.

    Thanks so much for the teamwork,

    Hi instant-brains and perhaps aflate as well…

    Sometimes there is a snag in API registration, perhaps having to do with a particular set up you may have that we’re unaware of. This is complicated when we look to help by trying to provide an exact URL to use for your site, rather than directing you to where the URL should be collected from.

    The link you’ll need to to apply for the Redirect URL can be copied from browser address window when you’re on the ‘Easy Instagram’ page under your Settings menu in your WordPress CMS.

    There may have been something different about your setup that made giving you an exact URL problematic.

    Hope this works for you. Let us know if you have continued difficulty.

    Hi lmoore11608,

    We’re glad you got moving on something that worked for you. For other new users, we can explain why we’ve built a plugin that requires registering an API client.

    In order to display and feed Instagram photos through a website, someone must have registered an API client with Instagram.

    There are many other Instagram plugins that use the same API key for thousands of installations.
    Using that kind of plugin, you share the risk with all of the thousands of other plugin users that the plugin developer may disappear, may not keep the API client active, and effectively break your site feature without notice.
    You also risk the plugin developer eventually charging for their plugin, especially because they’re providing an API registration service on which you’ve become dependent.

    The ‘Easy Instagram’ advantage is that only you (your website) and Instagram are involved, and that still — you don’t need to know any code whatsoever to complete the installation process.

    Basically involving a series of cuts-and-pastes, most people report having registered their API client in just a few minutes.

    But sometimes there is a snag, which I’ll reply about in a new response here.

    Hi again Mike,

    The linking to the image author’s Instagram profile page has been included in today’s update release 1.2.3.

    Thanks for the teamwork!
