oops – never mind, figured it out. Geez.
I was reading the part under General Options > Anyone can register differently. I needed that to be checked for it to show up.

    thanks anyway!

thank you HandySolo, but this isn’t for comments. It is for POSTS – we are a non-profit organization and want our Circle Leaders and other members to be able to register to be a user.

Is that ‘register’ not specifically for posts? In other words, is that NOT the way people sign-up to be approved as users?

    thanks for your assistance.

Okay, no response, but I’m going to post again with the latest that has been done by my client. She says:

In Norton Anti-Virus, I wrote a General Rule to allow inbound connections from this domain past the Internet Worm Protection. Tell it not to log events.
    Login failed.
    Turned Worm Protection off.
    Login failed.
    Reboot.
    Login failed.
    Turned Worm Protection back on.
    Login failed.

In the meantime, I go back to the log. There are several logged events from this IP trying to make a connection.

I add the IP to the Worm Protection exception General Rule. It says it is already covered and rejects me adding the IP.

I look up “Worm Protection” and “WordPress” to see if anyone has a fix.
I find: https://www.nevon.net/experimental/2005/01/fixing_the_nort.html My problem isn’t a program (I think) so I can’t use it, but it seems promising because it deals with the same stupid Norton problem.

I turn off “Worm Protection” completely then reboot.
    Login failed.
Check Norton event log. Not listed.

So, now it isn’t a Norton Anti-Virus Worm Protection problem. What else to try?

Zone Alarm Firewall is OFF in Trusted Zone. Have already listed both Host/Site and IP in Trusted Zone there. Check that entries are exactly as with previous blog. They are.

Check list of what I did before. Firewall was blocking before, but have already added domain to Trusted Zone so I don’t have any new steps to take from that list.
    Reboot.
    Login failed.

Norton Anti-Virus > Options > Threat Categories > Additional Threats: Remote Access > uncheck
    Login failed.
    Close Mozilla and open again.
    Login failed.

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    Nobody has anything helpful?
