Click on “Screen Options” at the top left of your dashboard, right underneath the “Howdy,” and check the box next to “Portfolio Categories.” That should do the trick. ??

I’m getting these exact messages, and I’ve searched around all night to no avail. This thread is the only place I’ve seen the exact error messages. Can anyone help?

Hi. That “blob” of red is part of your header image. I suggest you go back to the original image and check it again. I hope that helps.

You could right-click on the “banner” and select “View Background Image” (or something similar, depending on your browser). Then, you should be able to just print it alone.

You can create a Page for that: Write > Write Page. The page won’t be in the Loop, so it will be separate. You’ll just need to link to it separately.

Hi, Karen! It would help if you explained what you want the h1 to do because to my eye, the CSS is doing what it’s told.

first, which files should I be looking in to find errors to html code?

The validator parses all of your files combined when checking a page, so I usually start with my Main Index Template and then work through the others (header, sidebar, etc.)

Second, I assume that when the validator puts, let’s say, a little red > that means I have to add that, right?

The red notations (like the “little red >”) show you where your error began.

Third, how do I fix a “parsing error.”

It depends on what kind of error it is. I usually look at the notes for each error, and if I have no clue what they mean, I try searching the Web for answers. Most of the time, someone else has received the same parsing error.

I can tell you from experience that the more you do this, the easier it gets!

Thanks, Wild, but I already fixed mi problemo. It turned out to be a matter of column widths squeezing each other out. :/

I don’t have any loops at all in the sidebar at present. I’m converting an XHTML site to WordPress.

Did you ever solve this problem? I’m having the same difficulty on a site right now, and this is the only specific reference I can find.

The background I was referring to is for the div that could contain both the “narrowcolumn” and the “sidebar,” not the page body. You could feasibly create a horizontal sliver of an image — white for the “narrowcolumn” and orange for the border and tan for the “sidebar” — and y-repeat it throughout the container div.

I hope that’s not confusing. I really like your site design, especially the little village-like graphic around the search box. (What is that, btw?) I don’t remember there being so much gray at the top last night, though…
