I heard back from my server, Go Daddy, and they said it was a “load latency” problem which they resolved. I have no idea what that means, but the site loaks quick-like-a-bunny now!

Sorry that I posted two threads on the same issue…I didn’t know how to correct the placement once I made the error.

    Thanks.

I don’t seem to be the only one having this problem in the last 18 hours…doesn’t that seem a little funny? I see others on this list and perhaps on the problems after installation list…could it be wordpress?

The error here seems specific…is it possible that someone tried to register or used an email address already in use and it “hung” the database? If so, where would I look to fix it?

    any thoughts?

Okay…I just sent them an email.

I think I selected the wrong spot to post this question…I’ve been up and running since last May. This is not an installation problem.

Should I repost the question there?

    Thanks.

Hey, ryanfitzer, did you ever figure out how to put a picture with each category title in the sidebar, ie a photo of each friend you listed? I want to do something similar with my category titles. Thanks!

Great question…wish there was an answer. I too want to use an image as the title in the sidebar.

Okay…I just deactivated Live Preview and activated Ajaxified Preview. It works.

Would still like to know why the other wouldn’t work…user error no doubt! ??

    Thanks.

I just tried taking Live Preview off of the server and reloading it, reactivating it as plug-in, and adding the line of text to comments.php.

    Nothing.

Any ideas? I just don’t get it.

    Thanks much.

I received a reply by email from the maker of the plug-in for LivePreview saying that I “haven’t upload the javascript file (livepreview.js) into the plugins directory.”

I see that file on the server when I look and I see “Comment Live Preview” activated on the Plug-ins management page of my dashboard.

Does anyone know if there is something else I am supposed to activate?

No matter where I place the text <?php live_preview() ?> in my comments.php file, nothing happens.

    Please advise.

    Many thanks!

Thank you! I had not done this…so no wonder it couldn’t find the Live Preview plug-in.

Now, I’ve tried adding that line a number of different places in my comments.php file and, alas, nothing happens (still).

I am using the default, Kubrick, template. I don’t see a specific <form> section, so have tried moving the line around here and there. Anything else I should look for?

I’d be happy to send the lines of code if that would help, but I think it’s the standard.

    Thanks again.

I’m sorry that I can’t help you at all, but I was looking through the posts to find information about making each category have a different look when I saw all of these posts made by you….with no responses! I’m sorry…wish I had some expertise to offer. Maybe someone will come soon!

    Good luck!

Well, I don’t know the exact solution tactic, but strategically I want to have a fixed page that will allow me to change the format on the home page from Kubrick, more of a typical “web” page and less of a “blog” page format. Blogs have posts and comments; web pages can have any number of different topics all of weighted in emphasis by the design, more or less.

I want to direct the reader to a number of choices/topics that might be executed on multiple blogs “under the hood” of that front page.

For example, my current blog hosts stories written by other people with comments by others. I want to add a section for classes that will run on another blog. I want to add daily writing tasks that will run on another blog. And I want all of this seamlessly offered as options to the reader on a front page that doesn’t look like the Kubrick format of my site.

Does that help with what I’m looking for?

    Many thanks.

Sad! I was hoping that the options I was suggesting would work out. But better to know now and start out on the right foot. Thanks a bunch!

Found it! Sorry to be a bother…I also found lots of posts on support about “favicons”

I gave up doing it myself too quickly…thanks, moshu, for encouraging me to be a little more persistent!
