In reply to: blog archive appearing on a page as a commentThanks again.
Could I just ask one more question….since your kind response of earlier I have been reading the Codex documentation about pings, but as I am a bit dense I don’t quite get it. Is it a good idea to allow pings? I should be pinging other sites like ping-o-matic so that they will know that I’ve updated? Do I get a string of these “Responses” everytime someone pings a page?
Oops, I realize that is more than just one question…sorry.
Thanks again.

In reply to: blog archive appearing on a page as a commentOoohhh…something new for me! Thank you very much. I never used nor saw what a pingback does. Will this happen to any page that someone pings? Maybe I should make these pages not have pings…
Just one more thing….is there anyway to get rid of it except to delete the page and start over?
Thank you again.

In reply to: “turning on” comments on some pagesI did it! I found thread https://www.www.ads-software.com/support/topic/16759?replies=12, so I added the <?php comments_template( ); ?> into the page template (page.php) file like this:
<?php link_pages(‘Pages: ‘, ”, ‘number’); ?>
<?php comments_template(); ?>then I could go back and turn off the “comments” under the discussion panel for each page that I did not want comments to appear on; all others show “comments closed”.
That works.

In reply to: Enable/Disable Comments for PagesI found that “comments” option but it doesn’t work. It is checked “on” for all of my static pages and None of them have the “Comments” option on them. Any ideas? I am using the default template for version 2.02.
Thanks!
P.S. does it work to add onto an old thread?

In reply to: problem with multiple installationThanks, moshu. I got back to the working version of my blog. I’m going to try to put on the second installation again, but I know how to get back to the beginning thanks to you!

In reply to: problem with multiple installationI’ve replaced all of the files on the server with a back-up of what was working before I added the second blog. I even figured out how to go into the database and delete all of the new wp2 tables that had been formed.
Now I think the problem is with the admin panel. I can’t log in anymore. Somehow I think it got confused between my original username and password and the one for the second blog. It keeps refering to wordpress2 in my URL instead of wordpress. And still the only page that comes up is the homepage.
Want to take a look? Go to https://www.bluevicar.com.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

In reply to: blog in a blogyes…I’ve been wondering the same thing…I was hoping that maybe there was a ready solution…

In reply to: blog in a blogYes, that’s the idea. I want to be able to sort stories under nested headers. I can do this with categories, but it seems like it would be more fun for the blog page that opens with the site to track how I collect the stories and that sort of related information. Then the blog in the subwordpress can be used to track the stories and their content.
So, yes, I would end up with mysite.com/wordpress/subwordpress. Will it work? Where do I put the index.php file for the subwordpress directory….in the wordpress? Do I call the two index files something different? If i put index.php for the subwordpress directory into the WordPress directory, won’t it be confused about which is which?
Many, many thanks!

In reply to: add a horizontal rule to header in default themeThanks, Mike! I figured it…by hook or by crook. Your suggestion is right on. I’m rolling now!
