I appreciate the input and you may very well be correct. However, IONOS is one of the largest host in the world, and my hope was that there might be at least one user on this forum that would have experience. Since you appear to be the only one responding, I am assuming that this forum has very few users.

IONOS support is no different than any other support these days. Just monkeys pushing buttons to get bananas. You don’t get to talk to someone who actually knows anything about the system they support. All they know is what their computer screen is telling them to ask and do.

I am sorry, but you might do some research in to how the Ionos system works. I have FTP access, but Ionos host WordPress separately, and there is no access to it via FTP. You are thinking of a FTP installed version of WP on IONOS. That is not what I am using. I did not install WP on IONOS. It is offered directly by Ionos with no installation necessary. Thus it does not show up in the FTP directory when you access your hosting files via FTP.

If you think I am wrong, please send me to a link that shows how to access it via FTP, because I can find no way. OH, and calling IONOS does not good because their Customer Support knows nothing about how WP works. I have spent days on the phone with them. It’s like talking to kangaroos.

@threadi Thanks, but I did not use a plugin. My site is hosted with Ionos, and this is a built-in function of WordPress offered by Ionos. Besides, If cannot login, I cannot delete the plugin, because I have to login to access plugins.

Thanks. I have taken pretty much all of the most recommended steps already. I wish there were a way to enable 2-factor authentication, but I did not see that option mentioned in the article.

What’s up with WP support?

Guess I have stumped the WP gurus once again. This is getting to be to common of an occurrence.

Additionally. I am using the VANTAGE theme Version: 1.17.2. Last updated: April 24, 2021

Oh Yeah, my site is a 1&1 Managed site, so it is always fully updated.

This only made things worst. I have two options to choose from. “Default from WordPress” or “Legacy 1.12,4-WP”. Default from WordPress was what was originally selected. When I switched to Legacy 1.12,4-WP, I got this whole list of warnings.

I get different plugin updates on a daily basis. Blaming the issue on another plugin is about as helpful as saying,

“One of the stars in heaven might be your problem. You figure out which one it is.”

Sorry, but I find this kind of answer insulting. I feel like what you are trying to do is just shift the buck and have no real interest in trying to help me resolve this issue.

The above quote is what I call the “Butterfly Effect” argument. The Butterfly Effect argument is this, “If a butterfly flaps its wings in Russia, it may cause a rainstorm in New York.” There used to be a video back in the 90s where someone theorized how this might occur. The idea is based on the theory of interconnectivity, which is, “Everything, even tiny things, affects other things, sometimes in big ways.” The problem is, it is just a theory and there is no way to prove that a butterfly flapping its wings in Russia caused a rainstorm in New York.

This is what the person is saying in the above statement. He is saying, It is not SEO, but we feel that it improves the internet overall, and by proxy, it might be good for your site (even though we have no way to test or prove the effect it has on your site).”

I am not saying that it is not good to have external links. I have lots of external links on my site. But to make it a major point of SEO, and demand it on every single page, when it is actually not SEO by any provable measure, is not a professional move.
