Hi @terve,
Thank you for contacting us. Regarding your question about adding WordPress categories as a dimension for portfolio area tracking, unfortunately, our platform does not currently have the capability to segment data by WordPress categories.
Our analytics offer a wide range of URL and page-level data within a site. We enable filtering and segmentation of metrics using URL parameters, browser, OS device type, city/country, UTM campaign, and more. However, direct integration with WordPress taxonomy or categories is not currently supported.
In the meantime, one potential workaround could be to structure your URLs to reflect the category names. This would then allow you to segment the data based on these URL patterns. While this is not a direct solution, it could provide a way to approximate category-level analysis. The only way to achieve tracking on specific portfolio area pages would be to look at the URL data for just those page paths. For example, you could view metrics solely for:
- /portfolio/area-1/*
- /portfolio/area-2/*
And compare between them.
We understand that this feature could be valuable for users who organize their content into different categories, and we will certainly consider this as a potential feature for future updates.
Please let us know if you have any other questions!

Hi @johndvs,
Thank you for contacting Visitor Analytics support. You’re correct that it is possible to have both Visitor Analytics and MonsterInsights installed at the same time to collect website statistics and web analytics data in parallel. Visitor Analytics will reliably and privacy-focused track your web analytics like overall website stats, heatmaps, and session recordings regardless of other plugins installed.
However, to fully benefit from Visitor Analytics’ GDPR compliant, cookieless tracking and maximum visitor privacy capabilities, it’s recommended to only have our plugin active(as analytics tool).
With our privacy-first web analytics, in maximum privacy mode, you can remove data privacy concerns, gain insights into 100% of website visitors without needing consent banners anymore, and provide visitors the privacy they deserve.
So in summary – you can run both to get expanded web analytics coverage by leveraging each platform’s features. But for maximum website visitor privacy and control over your website analytics data, Visitor Analytics alone is recommended.
Let me know if you have any other questions! We’re happy to explain further how our privacy-focused analytics tool can help you understand visitor behavior while protecting their data.
Best regards,

Hi @artgoddess,
you have to uncheck the checkbox “receive notifications” on updates in your WordPress backend for our plugin.
I hope I could help.
All the best.

Hi @maltfield,
You are right, the description sounds a bit confusing and we will change it asap.
All the visitor data processed on behalf of the Customer (you) is stored in a Visitor Analytics database, which is hosted by Hetzner. More detailed info can be found in our DPA: https://www.visitor-analytics.io/fileadmin/visitor-analytics/downloads/dpa/20220916_visitor_analytics_data-processing-agreement_en.pdf
Thanks for pointing this out, we’ll be rewriting the description to be more clear.
Cheers!
We are so happy you love our product as much as we do. If you need any support or have suggestions for improvement, please do not hesitate to contact us anytime!
Hi!
We are truly sorry for the long delay in our response! Here are some things that might get this solved for you:
1. Please note that your browser might have cookies blocked for third party apps. You must allow third party cookies, or add this link https://wordpress-dashboard.va-endpoint.com/ as an exception to your blocked list, in order to allow cookies from us to be applied.
2. You can also try out the following:
Re-install the plugin
Clear the cache memory of the browser
Check if it works using an Incognito/Private session or another browser3. Another possibility would be that the CURL extension or allow_url_fopen are disabled on your web server. Does your server’s php configuration have CURL extension or allow_url_fopen disabled, by any chance? You can check on these in your php.ini file. It might be connected to the PHP file_get_contents function which has a limitation.

Hi,
We are truly sorry for the long delay in our response! If it’s not too much to ask of you, could you please try again and see if these warnings are still visible on your end? If yes, could you please share a video recording of how they came so we can have a deeper look?
Thank you! This is highly appreciated!
Best regards,
Visitor Analytics TeamHi Rhavi,
We are sorry to hear that you are facing an inconvenient experience with our app! As you can imagine, the free version is mainly meant to offer you a better perspective on what you can accomplish within the app. We offer more advanced features for free as well, having a lower limit, of course, additionally to the 1000 visits limit, to add more value to our app, even in FREE mode. All these limits help us to develop even greater things and keep a high quality for our service, but this is something that we can only do, if you and all our customers also support the service, by using the premium version of the app (when needed). Thank you for understanding!
Also, related to your second concern, there was a misunderstanding, for which we are truly sorry! Please note that your data is never lost, unless you reset the data intentionally, and from your end only, it cannot happen automatically. The only thing is that our app stops tracking new visits when the limit is reached (until a new month will start), but the old data will be always be there for you to check. In order to get more visits you can either upgrade to a higher plan, or reset your data, countless times during a month, to get another 1000 new ones (in case the old data is not that important to you).
If it’s not too much to ask of you, would you be kind to change your review a bit? We do not want a 5 star review, if you don’t feel like it. We completely understand your feeling of injustice, so we just want a quick summary of your overall experience. It would be highly appreciated, thank you!
We are also very sorry to see you go, hence we would be willing to offer you a considerable discount for the 1st billing cycle, if you decide to upgrade, just let us know if you are willing to do it, by simply writing us a message at [email protected]. There is always a solution to anything! Thank you!
Hi Pascal,
Thank you for the notice! Could you please provide us with some additional details? Upon checking, the version seems to be 1.0.6 in the main php as well. Are you sure that the version of the archive is up to date from your end? Thank you very much, it is highly appreciated!
Greetings. This is a very particular GDPR question and the issue can be interpreted in more than one way. Even the official webpage of the EU GDPR authority does not fully comply to this rule. What is important is that you inform your users about the data that is being tracked.
Now, if you want to be extra cautious, you can either only load the JS after the users accept your cookie banner or you can add the plugin you mentioned, that will do an automated cookie scan and declaration, which will be available to your users in the consent dialog’s details pane.
Providing a simpler solution to this is on our list of prioritiesMost likely, you are using an ad blocker. Try to pause it on that page, then refresh. If that doesn’t work, please check your browser settings and stop blocking third party cookies or allow Visitor Analytics as an exception. In Google Chrome, go to Settings > Advanced > Site Settings > Cookies and site data. Disable “block third party cookies” or go to Allow click the “add” button and insert [*.]visitor-analytics.io
