Ps…. on your hint I discovered hotlink protection in my hosts control panel and a handy little note that said ( this stops other people effectively stealing your bandwidth) so figured it was wise to enable it… including the tick box ” allow direct request” for mac users… what’s the best fix for down load protection for images – if I should be using this?

    thanks will

    Hi James,

All new jargon to me but I now I understand hot linking means showing photos on the blog that are some where else ( ie on another webpage) . All of my photos are uploaded to my blog ( recently i have been replacing all the photos i uploaded before i knew about watermarking, changing the file name to the post title and compressing.. but I have been deleting the old image first – not sure if that is related?)

as far as download protection goes… I understand that stops people right click saving the images on my page – in that case… No i am not using any download protection – should i be doing so?

hosted by a local company called webslice… sis there something I should change in my host dashboard/control panel?

    thanks will

Hmmm thanks team..I think i am following…dont yet speak the tech jargon though…

so what i am understanding.. is that like when you change the name of a post after it has been published you have to either update the permalink to the new name or make a redirect… changing the name of and image from eg: 000012img.jpg to for example: writing the post1.jpg to reflect the post name.. you also need to update the permalink for the image.. so the code can find the new photo..

so would i be correct in saying…. not yet understanding the jargon.. and easy way to update the image locations would be either to a) edit the image permalink or b) just delete the image, and re load it in the same place with the new name.. bit laborious..yes but effective?

and how to i stop it updating all the time i write something.. its driving me nuts because i cant do any editing.. starting to think i want to roll back.. why change something that wasnt broken and is now preventing me from doing my posts cause i have to re learn it..
