Thanks. The calendar is set to the Calendar page. I believe this problem may happened after the last update, since I never had this problem before.

Oh, sorry, I posted what I had done but it doesn’t show here. I ended up using the Child Theme Configurator plugin. The resulting functions file looks nothing like the instructions from the Codex from what I can tell. It works, and that is the important part for me.

I wish I knew. I am not good enough at php to troubleshoot it.

When I activate the twentyseventeen theme the masthead area with the photo, site name, and tag line measure 55 pixels. When I switch to the child theme it measures 22 pixels and the tag line doesn’t show. I compared the CSS (including the navigation) between the child theme and the twentyseventeen theme and find no difference. What could be causing this problem?

Thanks Manoj, I believe that is what I have done. I have followed several sets of instructions including this one: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Child_Themes which suggests enqueuing rather than @import.
Having cleared my head overnight I was able to follow it better and the white space at the top of the page is now gone. The header is still cut off on the auxiliary pages, and I don’t know why that is happening. Thanks again!

Can we please delete this whole thread? It turns out (finally, I think) that my business email address was blocked for spam and my personal address was just unbearably slow. AAAAGGGGHHHH!!!!

I was wrong. All my plugins are back on, and the main email address is working. However, my business email address appears to be blocked, and a CC to my personal address quits when I turn on all the plugins. Crazy making! Please share any ideas you have about the problem.

Thanks, Mike. That p tag appears when I put the photo in. I don’t know how to change that. The page used to work well. I may not have checked it after the last WordPress update, but I think I did.

…and possibly and image on some. Also need to have several per page.

I see that now. Thanks so much! Do you see any problem with just leaving the slide show in the Content section? I may just leave it there unless there is a problem with it.

I can’t get anything to show up in that section using this template, it’s not just the slideshow.
