Oh wow, well, this may be tougher to do on a member site…
and I may have hit a roadblock on this.

    Most plugins are activated site-wide.

I’ll try to go through disabling what plugins I can
and see if widgets ever work.

Any ways at all to find offending plugins or broken files
(to narrow down what to disable)?

I remember from going through this before,
plugins not meant for mu left broken files
    even after being deleted.

    Any ideas on repairing files?

    I’ll get into this process.

Thanks so much for your good time and assistance Andrea.

In the dashboard area, widgets can be dragged and set in the sidebar,
but these widgets don’t actually appear on the site.

Here are the links to the sites…

    The main site works fine…

An old blog (unchanged) works fine…

A newly created blog is where the widgets are not showing up…

I contacted the hosting service, and they said the way php is set up is actually a security measure and the errors should not be a problem.

This could very well be a plugin issue.
I’ve tried to delete plugins I think may be issues,
but what’s a good way to tell which one exactly.

Also wondering about any script patches / fixes from the trac
because I have done that before with some luck.

However the old ones I have on hand haven’t worked yet.
    (pluggable.php, functions.php, wp-functions.php)

Please let me know of any good ideas and solutions.

Really appreciate you taking time with this.

    Yes, absolutely.

In edit details we’re able to manually change both template & stylesheet – and that works on changing the theme.

But still, the widget areas do not actually hold any changes on the site.

I can ask our hosting guys to look into the php set up.

Is there anything I can do to get the widget areas working?

Or correct the set up through the dashboard, settings, or cPanel to get things firing properly.

Thanks so much for your great assistance.

Andrea_r, thanks so much for your good response.

We are working on our upgrade as we speak.

On this older install, we have actually been holding out on upgrading any plugins and trying very much not to install any plugins meant for WP 3.0+.

Since the last post, I have tried to delete any questionable and unused plugins (though still holding on to plugins in use).

But I’m still getting this error message when activating themes…

‘Your attempt to switch to this theme: “classic” has failed.

    Please try again.’

The MU+BP site & Blog can be found at…

The latest error log messages I have found are…

[19-May-2010 08:27:06] PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library ‘/usr/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20060613/imagick.so‘ – /usr/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20060613/imagick.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory in Unknown on line 0

[19-May-2010 08:27:06] PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library ‘/usr/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20060613/tidy.so‘ – /usr/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20060613/tidy.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory in Unknown on line 0

I wonder if this is a database / directory issue?

Or if there are any script fixes that can be applied.

Please let me know any ideas.

Thanks again for your good time and assist.
