I did a manual install. I’m using laughing squid as my host.

I originally wanted to make my site accessible by simply using
wwww.chrisyoungjewelry.com instead of https://www.chrisyoungjewelry.com/wordpress.

I feel that simplicity has its benefits. Is this possible to change and would you recommend doing this or keeping it https://www.chrisyoungjewelry.com/wordpress?

Perhaps I should just reinstall WordPress as I just installed it.

Edited the functions.php file in 2012 and getting same error message.

I will say that when I try to login at

https://www.chrisyoungjewelry.com/wordpress/wp-login.php

…I am forced to this page with error establishing a database connection

Ok so there were two theme folders in there: twenty eleven and twenty twelve. I changed the functions.php in both to :

update_option(‘siteurl’,’https://www.chrisyoungjewelry.com’);
update_option(‘home’,’https://www.chrisyoungjewelry.com/wordpress’);

when I go to https://www.chrisyoungjewelry.com/wordpress/wp-login.php
I get the same error message.

What am I doing wrong?

Which method do you recommend?

After I went to https://www.chrisyoungjewelry.com/wordpress/wp-admin/install.php installation went fine.
