Many thanks Ajay. I just put it into the styles box (changed it to 20px) and the search results page looks much, much better. Curious as to why there’s no padding at all by default though. The text was right up to the edges of the page which you never see normally. Anyway it looks great now and thanks for a great plugin.
Thanks Ajay. I tried adding that to the theme’s css file but it doesn’t work. What’s the # for btw? If I create a custom div in css don’t I need to use a dot (.) instead? And where do I add the markup for better search to use the new custom style? Can I edit a file inside bettersearch folder?
Thanks

OK. Thanks for replying.
Thanks. It would be nice if the tool cleaned up the old Yoast database which contains thousands of entries but I appreciate you might be cautious of deleting stuff ??
It would be great to get an answer to my last question please. Frankly, turning off firewall protection to solve and occasional annoyance is not really a good solution. I appreciate I can always temporarily turn off Wordfence before updating my forum but as I said in my original post I do keep forgetting because forum updates are relatively infrequent. I have to hold my hands up and admit that is my own fault, but I have a very valid question in wanting to know why word fence is blocking updates from software already installed on my server?
Surely it should be happy that it is being updated with potentially bug fixes and vulnerability flaws fixed? At the very least it would be helpful if Wordfence brought up a warning window which gave the administrator an opportunity to block or allow the process?
Many thanks
Andy
Many thanks. I did try learning mode once but it didn’t stop it happening again. I can try it again next time just in case though. I wouldn’t want to turn off Wordfence for the forum if it is doing valuable work. Can you explain why Wordfence constantly stops software already on the server from doing essential updates? That doesn’t make sense and is a security risk.
Andy

In reply to: [Broken Link Checker] Dashboard hangs on "loading" broken link checkerI turned off the “Run continuously while the Dashboard is open” option and this morning I have experienced no issues. I’ve been working in the WordPress control panel all morning and everything is fine. In fact Broken Link Checker reported a broken link on an article I edited half an hour back which shows it is working in the background.
So it seems that the issue is related to something BLC tries to do when Worpress control panel is opened and Chrome chokes on it but Firefox and IE don’t.

In reply to: [Broken Link Checker] Dashboard hangs on "loading" broken link checkerThanks. I’ll turn it back on and see what happens. It definitely seems to be an issue with Chrome choking on something that Firefox and IE aren’t.
I turned on error logging and BLC reports the following issues in Yellow on the debuginfoo page. Don’t know if it could be related or not?
“CURL version 7.15.5
You have an old version of CURL. Redirect detection may not work properly”“open_basedir On ( /var/www/vhosts/whitegoodshelp.co.uk/:/tmp/ )
Redirects may be detected as broken links when open_basedir is on.”Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Broken Link Checker] Dashboard hangs on "loading" broken link checkerIt remained hanging for over 20 minutes before I disabled it again in another browser (Firefox).

In reply to: [Broken Link Checker] Dashboard hangs on "loading" broken link checkerHi. It reports I have 1,511 unique URLs in 4,647 links
I just re-enabled it and the dashboard immediately locked up and is unusable;e for the last 7 minutes. The bizarre thing is that if I fire up another browser I can log in and everything is fine in that browser whilst the control panel open in Chrome is still hanging.
In the second browser, Broken Link Checker is reporting server load as 0.98
I reduced the server load limit setting to 2.00 several months back as I was getting my whole server crashing with out of memory errors and although I wan’t sure, as part of trying to prevent this issue I reduced the setting down to 2.00.
I had the target resource usage at 8% although when I logged in using my second browser I turned this up to 80% to try and allow the link checker more resources.

In reply to: [Broken Link Checker] Dashboard hangs on "loading" broken link checkerI can confirm that the issue I raised does appear to be a problem with Broken Link Checker after disabling the plugin last week and the problem has disappeared.
Thanks mike. I’ve just removed the web site url box on the comment form (if that’s what you meant)
I’ve had the same problem. I get a constant stream of spam registrations (many from .ru). I installed Stop Spammers and bingo! it stopped them all dead. Sadly it stopped most of my legitimate commenters too and I eventually realised the blog had fell very silent.
I also noticed a load of people asking to be whitelisted, some had left angry comments. I think it’s fair to assume that for every request to be whitelisted there is likely to be others who just didn’t bother and left very unhappy.
I disabled Stop Spammers and now I get comments again. The spam registrations are back but at least they never post any comments thanks to Akismet.
I accept that when dealing with spammers there will always be some collateral damage but having spam registrations is better than killing interaction with your users. Seems way to aggressive.
I’ve just realised that the code I keep refering to isn’t showing up for yo – Doh! I need to enter it in the code tags.
The markup which appeared to cause the Invalid security token error was
which I had inserted after a word surrounded with<em></em>
So when I had entered “
<em>
they</em>
it caused the error but when I removed just the
it posted the comment OK.However, when I disabled Jetpack, I could post the original code OK
Thanks very much. I only recently installed these extra plugins after experiencing a mass of spam registrations, about one every hour, which they totally stopped. No one ever posted anything (presumably because of Akisment) but Akismet didn’t stop the constant registrations and I couldn’t stop the email notifications for them.
I’ve disabled them, the last thing I want is for people to waste time composing a comment and for it to be blocked. I’ve noticed almost all comments have stopped but put it down to poor traffic – though I would have expected at least one angry email if people were being stopped from commenting.
In my case it seemed to definitely be the which caused the Invalid security token which when I disabled Jetpack was fixed.
