  • I have a slightly different problem (although I do find that sometimes part of the code disappears): I can embed the video when I do it on my desktop version of WordPress, but when I transfer it online, the video is transferred from my post to the sidebar!

    Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Default Code View

I have a variation on this issue: I’m importing from Radio Userland, and WordPress imports and saves all my old stuff in the view window, with all the html visible. Is there some way to assure that it will instead import in the code view, so that I don’t have to change every single post manually?

I can’t believe this: I’m trying to install wordpress on a Mac, using MAMP so that I can test it before installing on my site. Whenever I open the file:///Applications/MAMP/htdocs/wordpress/wp-admin/install.php
file, I get absolute GARBAGE — random text, strange formatting, and the hypothetically randomly generated password is always the same: %2$s.

I have done — I’m not kidding — 10 clean reinstalls of both MAMP and WordPress. Aside from Friday, when I was able to get it working for about 3 hours and change the templates, I’ve never even been able to open WordPress. I switched from Userland because I thought this would be easier, but I’m getting very nostalgic for Userland!!!

I’m in the laborious process of porting a Userland blog to WordPress. I’m hosting it on my Mac during the process, using MAMP. Everything was fine for the first two days, but now when I try to open the Site Admin. link, I get a message that “The connection was refused when attempting to contact localhost: 8889. I checked the wp-config.php file, and the settings are the same as when I set them. Whazzup?
