In reply to: Continue reading Only Works in Category ViewThanks but I think this is a wee bit ahead of where I am at. It says enter the following code into “the loop”:
<?php global $more; $more = 0; ?> //The code must be inserted ahead of the call to the content <?php the_content('Continue Reading'); ?>
I’ve no idea what loop they are talking about?

In reply to: Sidebar Widget Not in other PostsYeah but as I said I tried those solutions to no avail, 90% of the time it says look for this bit of code X in file Y and I look and it is not there. The posts are from 3 and 4 years ago (and questions related to different themes? so the code is highly likely to have been updated at some point in between or at the very least is just not relevant.
If I am going to get flamed for asking a support question on a support forum then I will just look again myself and not bother.

In reply to: Sidebar Widget Not in other PostsWhile i’m here can I ask is there a way to remove the category and tags from the bottom of posts? I tried all the coding tweaks I could find yesterday and none seemed to work.
Thanks

In reply to: Set Up Tracking CodesBasically I have a landing page of my creation on a WordPress site and when the optin fills in details they are then sent to the main affiliate promotion, so the tracking I want to firstly see is the traffic source URL/Keyword (from DirectCPV) that sent the lead to my landing page, so I need to have tracking directly in DirectCPV. In DirectCPV the destination URL is my own landing page.
I only have one affiliate link right now and that is a redirect from aweber when the optin adds name/email details to landing page it redirects them straight to my affiliate link so I don’t really need to track the source of that right now (but am anyway see below), although if I end up with more affiliate links in my blog, which I will be doing, I can add tracking IDs to the affiliate link in other places so I can distinguish between them. Doing this will tell me where they came from to the affiliate link but not the keyword or URL destination – meaning organic traffic, not paid directCPV traffic.
So at the end of the affiliate link redirect in aweber I have ‘?tid=LANDINGPAGE’
So I know it is the landing page. However if I add other affiliate links to my blog I will want to know the URL and/or keyword
-
and
also where the traffic came from (post 1/2/3 etc.). Basically right now I want to track URL/Keyword source of paid traffic that goes to my landing page.
Hope that makes sense!

In reply to: Set Up Tracking CodesI’m pretty much in the same boat until yesterday although can’t get the tracking right.
No problem thanks anyhow

In reply to: Set Up Tracking CodesDirect CPV is where my landing page is being used as a destination URL and this will drive traffic to my link. I realise there may also be organic traffic but I wanted to be able to track the difference between organic and paid traffic to my landing page. Basically see what keywords/URLs are effective in driving traffic to my page.
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Set Up Tracking CodesBecause I am using DirectCPV as traffic source i’d like to track the keywords and URLs that traffic comes from to my site.
I’m not sure but it looks like I need to set up custom variables?

In reply to: Set Up Tracking CodesThanks for the reply
I do have GA but didn’t know that it could track down to the level I was wanting – URLs/Keywords etc. Thought it just showed traffic levels.
Thanks

In reply to: Background color and Menu Rounded EdgesHmmm…. I now seem to have things working, I don’t know if it is certain things people post doesn’t work or other settings are interfering. I removed everything and reinstalled the child css stuff and it seems better.
See how it goes from there. I am still trying to get rounded borders on my menu thought!

In reply to: Background color and Menu Rounded EdgesI already done firebug, as I said above, and it doesn’t tell me anything that I can interpret. The issue I also seem to be having overall is that my child theme isn’t working. I have a page width setting in it that worked and now it doesn’t.
Can there be something wrong with the theme? I checked in admin and it is still there and the current theme being used is the child theme. I just updated to newer version but had these problems before the update.

In reply to: Help with MenuI cleared out the styles in the child css as it wasn’t having any affect. I will try removal of the –> and see how that works.
#access { background: #000; display: block; float: left; margin: 0 auto; width: 940px; }
When I put the above code in my child theme and change the colours nothing happens, my understanding is this should change the background of the menu but does nothing.
In the customise part of the child theme I have the background set as green so would this override the settings in the CSS? The reason I ask and what I did notice previously was that when I changed the background colour in customise the menu changed as well, from blue to black.
Thanks

In reply to: Help with MenuI can change the background of the main page in the dashboard but then how does that work if I also change it in the child theme? What takes precedence?
I would like to keep all the changes in my child sheet.
Thanks
