In reply to: Moved WP 2 to a new server: Links don’t workMichael, thank you so much for pushing me to that tidbit of advice. I’ve emailed the appropriate info to Verio, and I have my fingers and my toes crossed. I just found out yesterday that my job is going offshore, so being able to have a nice working site with a blog will be a big help while I job hunt.
Best wishes,

In reply to: Moved WP 2 to a new server: Links don’t workI’ve tried several things, trying to narrow down the problem:
1. I switched themes, thinking maybe I had munged something up in my editing. Links to comments and categories still wouldn’t work.
2. I read the info about where the .htaccess should live – at https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Using_Permalinks#Fixing_Permalink_Problems
and I put it in the https://www.mccannas.com/blog/ folder. There wasn’t an .htaccess file there. I left it empty because my server is Unix – and I don’t know if they are using Apache (as you can probably guess, I just stepped way over my head). So the .htaccess is there now.
3. I updated the permalinks using the admin console again. And last but not least, the links still are not working. I’d really appreciate any help.
Thanks,

In reply to: Moved WP 2 to a new server: Links don’t workDoes anyone else have any suggestions? I’ve seen a number of postings re: moving WP2 and having broken links, and I haven’t seen a fix yet.
Many thanks,

In reply to: Moved WP 2 to a new server: Links don’t workThanks so much for the quick reply. That extra slash was in there from some point at the initial install and I wondered about it. That’s now fixed, I tried updating permalinks again, thinking they probably needed to be refreshed. I’ve also edited the wp-admin.php to put a timer on the cache as suggested in another post. Yet the song remains the same when clicking on category and comment links:
