    So, it isn’t a problem with e-signature, it comes back to a problem with cf7 and the fact that the submit button doesn’t work correctly. Where do we go from here?

    Finally, Takayuki, I have contacted wp-e-signature, because the ‘Submit’ button redirects to their e-signature document, and I think this might be where the problem lies. I don’t think cf7 is showing the ‘fields need to be completed’ error because of the form, as the fields are all completed. So I think it’s not able to find the redirect page (even though I’ve recreated it several times). Hope this helps in trying to sort out this problem. Many thanks, James.

    Takayuki, I’ve also tried deactivating a few of the plugins associated with cf7, namely Conditional Fields for Contact Form 7
    Contact Form 7 digital signature add-ons
    Contact Form CFDB7
    but none of these make any difference.

    Just to be certain, this is the right code for the tick-box?

    <div class="checkbox_wid_info">
    [checkbox* terms class:checkbox_text id:terms_condition exclusive ""] I agree to the <a href="https://www.simplyphotographic.co.uk/terms-and-conditions">Terms & Conditions.</a>
    </div>

    <div class="input_wrap">
    <div class="input_label">
    <p>Please follow the re direct to our T&C e-signature contract ready for signing. <br>
    Please press the Submit button.</p>
    </div>
    <span class="star">*</span>
    </div>

    <div class="submit">
    [submit class:submit_button id:submit_button "Submit"] <div class="social"><span>Please like us:</span><a href="https://www.facebook.com/simplyphotographic1" target="_blank" class="social_icon fb"></a><a href="https://www.instagram.com/simply_photographic_/" target="_blank" class="social_icon ins"></a>
    </div>

    5.6.1 also produces the same problem, so I guess it is another updated plugin causing the problem? James.

    Just an update. I found cf7 5.6.2 and it still gives the same problem on the tick box.
    I will try 5.6.1 and then I think I will have to start deactivating other plugins, unless you can find another solution.
    Cheers

    A good question, Takayuki. The theme was a ‘custom’ theme, and I haven’t a clue what it was based on, only that every page uses a custom php template. It is not updateable as the whole theme was made from scratch, though I suspect the web developer (who cannot be traced) copied it from somewhere. I guess it is likely that some jQuery/JS is deprecated as the site was built in 2015. I think the best thing to do for the time being, just to get is site working, is to roll back to the previous cf7 version. Where can I download it please? Cheers, James.

    Sorry, I should have said there is no room on his server for a staging/dev site, so I’d have to download the live site to a localhost and try disabling stuff from there, but it would take three days and in the meantime he can’t run his wedding photography business!

    Hi Takayuki, thanks for your response. The plugins are:
    `Advanced Custom Fields PRO
    Category Order and Taxonomy Terms Order
    Checkout Field Editor for WooCommerce
    Classic Widgets
    Conditional Fields for Contact Form 7 (just updated)
    Contact Form 7 digital signature add-ons
    Contact Form CFDB7
    Custom Taxonomies Menu Widget
    Elfsight Testimonials Slider CC
    Infinite Scroll and Load More Ajax Pagination
    LayerSlider
    MetaSlider (just updated)
    Post Types Order
    Rank Math SEO
    Simple Custom CSS
    Ultimate Posts Widget
    WooCommerce
    WooCommerce js cookie fix
    WooCommerce Photography
    WooCommerce Product Add-ons
    WP E-Signature
    WP E-Signature Business add-ons
    WP Mail SMTP
    WPBakery Page Builder

    This is a client’s website that I’ve just inherited to do regular maintainence on. I dread the thought of trying to deactivate each plugin in turn as it will have to be on the ‘live’ site. There is no room on his server for a live site and a download of his 80GB site will take at least two days! If I revert to the previous version of CF7 plugin and it works, is it safe to keep it?
    Thanks, James

    Hi Sanjeev, and many thanks for this.
    After consulting Plesk on possibly some kind of server issue, they moved the site to a different path on the server, and it’s now working correctly! Neither of us could figure out where some kind of conflict occurred, especially as WP Mail SMTP was sending all other emails, so this is a mystery, but hopefully now functioning correctly. Sorry to have bothered you, but believe me I had tried everything else! Cheers, James.
