Thank you for your interest in WP-Client. To answer your question, yes, you can create folders in the WP-Client FTP upload directory, and assign each of those folders (they would be created as corresponding File Categories in the plugin dashboard) to any combination of clients in the WP-Client admin dashboard. You can then upload files directly to those folders via FTP, and even set up the plugin to automatically “sync” with these FTP changes on a preset time schedule (every 6 hours, etc). The files will then be visible to the assigned clients when they are logged into their HUB Page.
Perhaps you have a different plugin installed? The latest version of WP-Client Lite is 1.1.1, so having version 1.3.1 installed would not be possible.
Doing some Googling, it looks like there used to be a plugin called “WP Client File Share” (unaffiliated with us), but it doesn’t seem to exist any more. Here’s a old forum post related to that plugin, for reference: https://goo.gl/gzYlYW
Perhaps this is the plugin you have installed?
Sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with the plugin. Could you please verify for us what version numbers of WP-Client and WordPress you are currently running?
Also, just to clarify a bit, you are seeing this error message when attempting to view some pages in the frontend while logged-in as a client? Or you are seeing this error while trying to navigate the backend menus of the plugin while logged-in as an admin?
As a diagnostic step, please check your Permalinks settings, and if not already, please change to “Post Name”
See example video here: https://screencast.com/t/oFv7MmcNGbEven if they are already set to “Post Name”, go ahead and re-save them.
Additionally, can you please verify for us are the WP-Client Theme Link Pages correctly installed and linked in WP-Client–>Settings–>Theme Link Pages? (You should see green checkmarks next to all of the boxes)
See example screenshot here: https://screencast.com/t/lXiOI8IiIf you continue to experience issues, please feel free to contact us through our official Support Channel at the following link, for a more secure and private support conversation: https://support.webportalhq.com/
Sorry to hear you are disappointed with the functions of WP-Client. While it is true that WP-Client Lite contains fewer features than WP-Client Pro, WP-Client Lite is far from doing nothing. WP-Client Lite offers the core “portal” functionality of the plugin, including HUB Pages and Portal Pages, creating Clients, and assigning Circles. With this functionality alone, you can create private portals for clients in your installation, and assign resources to them in the form of private Portal Pages, which can contain any information you would like (such as embedded videos/images, links to other pages, etc).
Additionally, we also offer Lite versions of other functionalities, in the form of “add-on” Extensions, also at no charge. For example, you can find a Lite version of our Estimates/Invoicing Extension here: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wp-client-lite-invoicing-estimates-billing/
Hi mitchbishop,
Just to clarify a bit, what kind of customization and styling changes did you want to make? Meaning, to watch portions of the plugin?
In the Pro version of WP-Client, we include editable templates for all of the major shortcodes (file sharing, private messaging, etc), which give you control over the shortcode functions, as well as their layout/styling.
See example screenshot here: https://screencast.com/t/BmXEy5e40Additionally, there are CSS files related to each of the major shortcodes that contain specific styling for each, though the majority of shortcode styling is inherited from your current theme.
Lastly, our Dev Team is working to update some of the older parts of the plugin to be more streamlined, and styled in a more contemporary fashion. For example, here is an example screenshot of the new Private Messaging we are working to release (this is from the point-of-view of a client): https://screencast.com/t/VCYa7Rs4Jn9g

Hi Fiona, it looks like you submitted a similar question through our Support Portal (https://support.webportalhq.com) that our Support Team responded to. Just wanted to cover bases here and confirm that this functionality you’re describing is not part of WP-Client, and it sounds like it’s another plugin that is installed in your installation?
Thank you for your feedback. We have submitted an update to the changelog on the repository listing for WP-Client Lite, we are just waiting on the listing to update itself. It should be displaying publicly by the end of the day.
If you could possibly provide us with a ticket ID# for your submitted support tickets, we would be more than happy to try to locate them in our system and respond.
Alternatively, we would be happy to answer any questions you may have through this forum here. You mentioned Project Management and Feedback Wizard in your original post. Did you have any specific questions regarding these Extensions? You can find some information (along with screenshots) in our Support Portal. For example, you can find information regarding Project Management here: https://support.webportalhq.com/support/solutions/articles/1000049819-project-management-quick-start-guide
Hi,
Sorry to hear you were having trouble finding the information you needed. Just to clarify a bit, did you submit a Support Ticket to our system at https://support.webportalhq.com ? If you could possibly provide us with a ticket number, we would be happy to track it down and find out what became of it (it’s possible that it was incorrectly flagged as spam by our automated system, and never actually received by our team).
Thanks,

Hi,
Thank you for your interest in WP-Client. Regarding your questions:
1&2) The permissions/access of pages inside WP-Client (called Portal Pages) can be handled on an individual level, or in a “bulk” grouping manner. Meaning, each page inside the plugin can be assigned specifically to whichever clients you would like to have access to those pages. If a client is not assigned to a page, they will not be able to access it.
3) Charging for services via PayPal is a possibility through the WP-Client invoicing system. You would just create an invoice in the amount you would like to charge, and assign that invoice to the appropriate client or clients. The client(s) can then login to their portal, view the invoice, and pay using the provided gateway that you have setup (PayPal being one of the built-in gateways).
Hope that answers your questions, and please let us know if you have any others. Please note that all of the answers above are referring to the functionality of WP-Client PRO, and the functions mentioned may not necessarily be available in WP-Client LITE.
Additionally, if you have any other questions, please feel free to contact our Support Team through our official Support Portal here: https://support.webportalhq.com

Hi,
Just to clarify a bit, when a new client is created, you would like a new FTP folder to be created and assigned to the client? But you wouldn’t want that folder to be related to a File Category? If so, unfortunately this is not currently possible, at least not with the current built-in functionality of the plugin. Specifically, the ability to have folders or categories automatically created/assigned when a new client is created does not currently exist. Additionally, all folders inside the WP-Client file sharing FTP directory would be related to a File Category. It is not currently possible to have a folder inside the plugin without it being connected with a File Category. This may be possible with some customization, or in conjunction with an additional plugin, but unfortunately this is not something we officially endorse or support at this time. However, we will add this to our Feature Request Funnel, and look into the possibility of implementing it in the future.
Thanks,
WP-Client Support Team
