In reply to: Bilingual LinkerSo on the standalone site (French site) it works perfectly – links to mirrored English pages.
On the networked site, I’ve removed all but the one site (English) and network activated the plugin, but it’s still not showing as a menu option.

In reply to: Bilingual LinkerYou are so kind! Thanks,
I’m still trying to figure out how to de-network the one site.

In reply to: Bilingual LinkerYannick – I appreciate your offer – if I cannot figure it out by this afternoon I will get in touch on your website and arrange to give you what you need to do the work. I’m using Avada – and it’s a PITA if you ask me – but it’s too much work done to start over.
Thanks a lot,

In reply to: Bilingual LinkerOK – I have the second domain set up outside the network with its own installation of WP, and I have installed and activated Bilingual Linker, set the parameters, and I can see it in the menu options, but it still won’t allow me to add it to the menu. I cannot figure out what i am doing wrong – this has worked for me before. I’m going a bit crazy here…

In reply to: Bilingual LinkerAh, jeez. For some reason the second site is not showing as its own domain in the list of networked sites, but there is an empty folder showing instead. I must have screwed up in my network setup and declared a subfolder instead of a second separate domain name. I don’t know how to map a different domain name to a networked site, and I’m not sure it can be done after the fact, so I will remove that folder “site” and try to set up the first domain as a simple non-networked site, then maybe things will work.
You say “To get out of the bind, have you thought about adding the menu item by calling the PHP function from Bilingual Linker to display the menu item?”
I have no idea how to call it to make it display the menu item – I am not terribly proficient in PHP – I have had some success before now by putting the function in the header in its own div and styling it with CSS, but in this case when I try putting the function in the header it breaks the theme no matter where I put it.So in any case, it’s not your plugin, it’s my wonky setup.
Thanks,

In reply to: Bilingual LinkerI am now seeing the Bilingual Linker in the menu options one the French site, but not in the English one.
And even though it is appearing in the menu options of the french site, I can’t get it to add to the menu.
This is really frustrating – The sites are supposed to go live today and there is no linkage between them.
Can you tell me anything that might help?Forum: Plugins
In reply to: Bilingual LinkerI know it’s usually there – but it has not shown up. I have tried everything, clearing caches on server and my local machine, even as far as rebooting my computer, but it’s still not there.

In reply to: [Bilingual Linker] Can't find the "add to menu"OK, My bad – it was hidden in the “screen options”.
Found it and it’s working perfectly!
Another donation is on the way.Forum: Networking WordPress
In reply to: Inherited site – need to create Network AdminI don’t currently have access to the database to change passwords. And I can login as an admin on any of the sites – but I need to be Network Admin to enable plugins, and make themes available, etc.
I did not mention WP – I asked if they could help me set up a number of 301 redirects for the pages to the URLs of the WP site – nothing in the new page URLs indicates it’s a WP site (pretty permalinks. yay!)
The tech support there simply said they can’t help, they don’t know how to do page-to-page redirects, they only deal with domain-level redirects, but that won’y work in this case, since the page names are not the same. Unfortunately, changing hosts is not an option – my client is not able to do that, for reasons they choose not to share with me.I know this is not a WP specific question – I did try Google first a couple of different ways, but no joy there. I guess I’ll look for a more general help forum.
Thanks, everyone.
I have already spoken to the hosting provider for thee old site before posting here – they can’t or won’t help. ??
