In reply to: WordPress crashes after postingI thought that the first two were from older versions of wp and not used in the 2.8 db. I went ahead and removed them from the db to see if it would help and I repaired all the tables.
The site still crashes but it seems to take less time to recover now. I backed up the tables before I dropped them. Should I put them back or leave them out. I went back and check the site’s content and could not find anything missing or not working after dropping the tables.

In reply to: WordPress crashes after postingAs I was going through the database I’ve noticed some tables that don’t appear on the list of wordpress db tables. Some are plugins that I know of but some are not. I’m running mysql vedrsion 4.1.14 and WP v. 2.8.3
wp_linkcategories
wp_post2cat
wp_subscribe2Should these be in the db?

In reply to: WordPress crashes after postingI’ve done repairs to a few of the tables before but not all of them. I’ll backup and try that.

In reply to: WordPress crashes after postingI had tried deactivating the plugins before and it made no difference. I just tried again and the same result.
The first time I installed WP it was around v.2.1 or so. That stated to mess up after awhile and I upgraded to V.2.6 I’m not sure if that messed the database up or not.

In reply to: WordPress 2.8 was working fine now it goes to: wp-admin/install.phpYou Sir are a genius!
I check the db and it does look like wp_options is crashing. I running a backup right now. Is there a better way to fix it other than running a repair?

In reply to: Posts, comments gone after MySQL Repair DatabaseI just looked in the database files and the wp_posts file appears empty.
Has anyone ever had this happen. I have a backup from last wed., but I would rather not go back that far if I don’t have to.

In reply to: Permalinks not working on WP 2.6 with Yahoo Hostingjodimfs
I am in the same boat you were in. I tried all the same steps that you did and my links still did not work.
What exactly did you enter into the permalink redirect plugin?

In reply to: WP 2.6 Upgrade issues – catgories, database connection, 404 errorsI’m in the exact same boat as you. My work around for the cats. was to create a new one using the same name as one I had before. Make it the default cat. Then delete the old cat. which moved those posts to the new default cat. Repeat for each cat.
I started to have a bunch of problems this week with my old WordPress so I decided to upgrade yesterday. I lost the cat., the connection to the database comes in and out. I used the 3 step instructions.
I read a few other posts in which people were complaining about some of the same issues that I was having, and they got fixed with a upgrade to the 2.6.1 version. I am doing that right now to see if things get better.

In reply to: upgraded to 2.6 and all my categories were lostSame thing just happned to me.
I am in the process of makeing a new cat. using one of my old cat. names. Making that one the default. Then deleting the apporiate old cat. that no longer has a name. All the posts then transfer to the default cat.
Glad I only had 30 cats. and not 101!!!
