I never found help online with mine. I ended up hiring an IT specialist (conveniently my nephew!) to fix the issue for me. Even he had a few issues but he got the SSL off my main domain (where I didn’t want it) and onto the subdomain where I did want it.

Since then, I’ve installed several SSL cards on other first level domains without an issue. It is the subdomain/main domain issue on the wildcat card that is the issue. That and having the Bluehost tech do it. When I do it through the SSL portal on Bluehost, I’ve never had a problem!

Goodluck fixing your issue. I really suggest getting IT help. It isn’t worth the hours of websearching.

I got a friend to help and he managed to get the SSL certificate working on the subdomain, but all internal links/pages go to a 404 error. So a small step forward.

Anyone have troubleshooting of 404 errors on wordpress sites moved to SSL?

I never answered the second part of your question, Luke. I do clear the cache and still haven’t gotten it to work. I usually end up with a redirect to the maindomain or the error:

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

As an update as I’m still trying to get this to work. If I add the above code to the .htaccess file of the maindomain and the sub, the sub simply redirects all traffic to the maindomain.

Is this part of the issue? Does it help clarify anything?

Yes, Luke. it was a purchased Wildcard cert.

And actually, Luke, the staff at bluehost helped me purchase and then add the Comodo SSL certificate to the server. They just didn’t have any advice on why it wasn’t working on the sub other than to contact at developer after I’d tried the steps on https://my.bluehost.com/cgi/help/766.

Yes. The SSL cert is installed and working fine on the main domain. It is just getting it to function on the sub that is failing. And I did double check that I have the correct SSL to work on subs and do. ??

I’m having the same problem except when I post the code given by Bluehost to the subdomain .htaccess file, I get a file not found error and cannot access the site at all.

I tried adding the code given by cedcommerce above to both the domain and subdomain .htaccess file, but it didn’t solve the problem (still could not access the subdomain).

Are there any other suggestions? Does it matter where or what order you paste the code? (I’m a novice at this)

Went in and looked at the popup options and made a guess that you were referring to clicking “Allow page to scroll while popup is visible” and selected that. And it worked. ??

I haven’t heard back from KingSumo yet either.

The version that is working for me is 1.3.10. The 1.3.11 is the disfuctional one. For code… well, I felt like being thorough and copied all files – 12, I think, in total. I doubted the problem was in the sync-Aweber or sync-mailchimp, but just in case there was some stupid reference in a different place, I swapped out everything. And yeah, did the same thing by installing on a site with no giveaways to get the code. Day 4 and it is still working! Good luck!

I did. Hence the copying of code rather than removing the new version and installing the old (that was the backup plan). Glad it worked!
