  • I just tried… I deactivated all 14 active plugins. One by one reactivated including Hotfix and Use Google Libraries. Still no dice.

Add to the list… installing Hotfix 0.8… again no change.

I deleted the wp-admin folder and I deleted the wp-includes folder. I downloaded 3.3 zip… extracted the files. manually uploaded via FTP the ‘new’ wp-admin & wp-includes… Site looks fine, dashboard and UI for admin controls unchanged. Problems still exist… (see screenshots above). WTD??? (What The Duck?)

Thanks for all of the continued support. I’ll report back the details.

I’m not sure if this helps any, but I have some screen shots to help illustrate what I’m experincing:

Blank ‘white’ screen. Active area of form is editiable but can’t be seen unless you seletc the text or code as a highlight. It is also stuck in HTML mode. You can switch between Visual and HTML
    Top half

Various controls are frozen and non functioning. See the lines that border the control features. That is connected to whatever is wrong with the admin file.
    bottom half of page

    Good to know.

I’m willing to do the same… if I can be guaranteed I won’t destroy and be able to recover the site content. I’ve spend days building the content and I can’t afford to lose the site. When people say to delete the old wp-admin and re install 3.3 manually how am I assured that won’t cause more damage?

I do have my content and wp database backed up on an external drive.

Same here… Same white screen… Visual and HTML modes are still confused. Buttons like ADD IMAGE are still inactive. I’m guessing “ISe Google Libraries” can hurt to have in my plug in folder, but this did not fix the issue.

I don’t want to pollute this thread with my issues any further which may be unrelated to the OP. Should I start a separate thread regarding my specific problems? I really need some focused guidance here. I did not create this WP directory on our website, I am merely maintaining and updating the content. I am not a website admin either. I can understand basic concepts… and I have no problems locating and identifying files and folders on our web directory. It’s the actions which confuse and scare me a bit. For instance I’ve read through the Manual Install directions for reloading WP 3.3 at least five times… and deleting the ‘old wp-admin’ and replacing with an upload gives me as much confidence as saying “cut the blue wire… not the light blue wire, but the blue wire”. Seriously I’ve already done enough damaging doing something as simple as a version upgrade.

For the record… I’ve cleared cache… on all browsers (Safari, IE, Firefox and Opera and on separate computers with different platforms (Win 7, XP and Mac OSX). Let’s just rule that out now (people seem fixated on the browser cache, this is clearly a DB problem). I’ve also deactivated ALL plugins… and could not correct the problem.

I’d like to start a fresh thread with some screen shots… but only if the support/ admins feel it’s necessary.

I’m working through this now. Thanks for the link. I’m a little lite on the admin side. We paid a designer for the template design and customization. So I can handle the plug in’s and re install. As far as rditing the WP DB… well I’m new with a ‘scalpel’ … so I’m going to read a bit more before I cut into the ‘patient’. ??

Actually… it’s worse than I thought. When creating a new post or editing the post I can no longer Post Image under Post Options. The Drop Down Menus work but the ADD IMAGE button is unresponsive. Also R-Panel is completely not functioning.

I actually made and completely a website (blog post) update using Windows Live Writer and it was successful in posting to the site. Although it did not format as I had wanted it.

I’m will use all my energy toward focus and patience… perhaps I made a newbie mistake trusting that the new update put out by Word Press had been tested and would not cause so much havoc… but it’s hard not to be pissed over this.

Thanks I’m going hold off on this now until some admins from WP chime in. I’ve only been using WP since October but I spent many hours transfering and updating photo galleries from our old PHP website. This seems to be an ongoing problem with previous WP upgrades.

Here’s one from two years ago that was started for 2.8… yet the thread is closed and I’m not sure if the fix suggested
    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/lost-my-text-formatting-tools

Experiencing the same issues… ugh! Spent two hours trying to troubleshoot. I’ve deleted/cleared cache. Nothing works. My previous formatting toolbar is missing and it seems to be stuck inbetween Visual and HTML. When I highlight the white text editing space for previous posts the text is there, yet the tab is stuck in Visual mode and there is HTML tagging present.

Reinstalled 3.3. I DID NOT backup so I can’t go back to an earlier date… however that doesnt seem to work for the OP anyway. Can I rollback to 3.2?

Please… for the time and energy invested in this site I can’t have it fail me. I beg for a fix.
