I’ve found out why my database was so large. I also use the WordFence plugin for file scanning. For some reason the config portion of the DB for WordFence was too big, so I deleted that table and let it rebuild. Now the DB is more in line with an appropriate filesize.
I had this problem before. If you haven’t solved it yet, try going into the “Backup Settings” screen and click on the “Restore Default Location” button to reset where on your server the backups get saved to.
This happened to me when I switched hosts and copied my database over…so iThemes was still trying to use the file location on my previous host.
This seemed to have been causing the plugin to attempt a database dump every minute or so. Once I restored the file location to the default for my NEW host it was fine.
You’ll also see a similar button in the “Global Settings” screen for the log file location.
Same for me. I had to re-initiate the backend setting for it to function. Seems OK now.

No.
I gave it 5 or 6 days to do so before posting my original post.
Not sure what’s going on.Forum: Reviews
In reply to: [Wordfence Security - Firewall, Malware Scan, and Login Security] WordfenceUnless you’re using some really wonky theme code, Wordfence wouldn’t be the culprit. I’ve been running it for going on 8 months now and have never had it crash any of my site code.
You’d have better luck posting this at the WordFence forum.

This happened recently when WordPress updated, and Mark (The developer of WF) had it up and running pretty damn quick once he figured out what needed to be done on it to get it working again.

In reply to: WTF is remv.php in wp-content/themes folder?I found the same thing on my WP installs. I had not upgraded since WP2.0.5!
Shame on me.
Anyway, I looked in the remv.php file, and it’s set to only allow people from certain IP blocks to access the file.
I bounced the IP blocks that are found in there, and it’s basically a block of cable ISP IP blocks in Pennsylvania, and Massachussets.Very hackish stuff.
remv.php allows full shell access and other PHP goodies to those who get in through it. Remove it immediately.
