Actually, solvent does work with WP 2.0. I just tried it and it does work. Add a custom field called slippery with a value of 1 and the post will slip from the first page as intended.
I agree it needs an update to have a better user interface, but if you need the feature, the plugin appears to work with WP 2.0.
