In reply to: [WP GoToWebinar] GoToWebinar Authentication Randomly DisconnectingAlright, I was under the impression based on the notes within the plugins General Options page that the opposite is true. This is what it says in the plugin “To have a more consistent connection we recommend creating an application in GoToWebinar”.
Otherwise, as you state on the options page, the connection is subject to API rate limits.
We were having these disconnect issues with the plugin before I created the App. That, along with the notes about an App providing a more consistent connection, is what prompted me to create one to use for authentication.
I’m hesitant to remove the App credentials for authentication since the original way we authenticated proved to be unreliable.
Sorry, I switched WordPress accounts inadvertently before I posted this reply!

In reply to: [Wired Impact Volunteer Management] Tags, Filters, and UploadsThanks for reaching out Leah. All good questions. I’ll tackle them one at a time.
1. How can I create event tags to better organize the available shifts? (i.e. “indoor”, “lifting required”, “money handling”)
There isn’t currently a way to automatically tag volunteer opportunities. The easiest way to do this would be manually. Create a page titled something like “Indoor” and manually create links to each volunteer opportunity there. I definitely know this isn’t perfect and requires a decent amount of manual work, but it is an option.
2. How can I create filters based on those tags for the volunteers to easily view shifts they can handle?
Creating filters for something like this is actually fairly complicated from a programming standpoint. If you’re really in need of this functionality you’ll likely have to work with a web developer to make it happen or try to find another plugin that has this functionality built in.
3. Please don’t make me create 360+ events manually. Please tell me there’s a way to upload multiple shifts via CSV or even mySQL injection!!!
Unfortunately, I don’t have a great answer for you here either. You can speed up this process a lot by using a plugin such as Duplicate Posts which allows you to easily copy volunteer opportunities. If that doesn’t work for you, I’d also suggest checking out the PTA Volunteer Sign Up Sheets plugin. It might be a better fit for what you’re looking to do.
I hope that’s helpful. Let us know if you have any other questions.

In reply to: [Wired Impact Volunteer Management] All Sign-ups are being stored as usersThat’s great to hear! I hadn’t seen that before where the database tables weren’t created, but I’m happy we were able to find a way to get it working for you.
If you’re able, we’d love for you to leave an honest review at https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/wired-impact-volunteer-management/reviews/. Each one helps.
Otherwise, let us know if you have any other questions while using the plugin. Take care.

In reply to: [Wired Impact Volunteer Management] All Sign-ups are being stored as usersThanks for all the details. It definitely makes troubleshooting much easier. If you’re comfortable working in the database, it would be great if you could remove two options from the wp_options table that are preventing the plugin from trying to create the tables again. Under the option_name field look for
wivm_version
andvolunteer_opp_rsvp_db_version
. Delete both of those, then try to deactivate and reactivate the plugin. That should make the plugin attempt to add the tables again. Please backup your database before you do that just in case something goes wrong. I would hate for you to run into other issues while trying to fix this.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.

In reply to: [Wired Impact Volunteer Management] All Sign-ups are being stored as usersThanks for reaching out @akrivoniak and I’m sorry you’re running into issues. Like you mentioned, it sounds like everything that’s supposed to happen is happening, except for storing those expressing interest within the database. Each volunteer is actually added as a user with the “Volunteer” role in WordPress, so that’s also intended behavior.
There are a few database tables that are created when the plugin is installed. It might be worth trying to deactivate and reactivate the plugin to see if this creates those tables. For some reason, maybe they were never created or were deleted at some point.
If that doesn’t work, I’m wondering if you have access to error logs at all for the website. If the people filling out the form aren’t being added to the database an error should be generated. It would be great if you could provide that to us.
That should help us start to troubleshoot the problem. Let us know how it goes.

In reply to: [Wired Impact Volunteer Management] Adding OpportunitiesThanks for reaching out @monerafahad.
I apologize, it’s not clear to me what you are trying to achieve. What front end menu and which page are you referring to?
Would you mind providing some additional details?
Thanks.

In reply to: [Wired Impact Volunteer Management] Form Does not clear when sentHi @benham-design.
A volunteer can only RSVP for an opportunity one time using the same email address so if they keep hitting the ‘Sign Up’ button they will not continually be signed up. After the first time they sign up a message will display letting them know they have already RSVP’d.
There is currently no way to reset the form or redirect on form submission without modifying the plugin code which I wouldn’t recommend.
If your visitors are overlooking the form submission confirmation message I would recommend adding custom styles to make the message more prominent. For example, you could increase the font-size and/or font-weight of these messages.
If you’re comfortable with coding you can target the confirmation messages to add custom styles using the following CSS classes:
.success.volunteer-opp-message
for the Success Message
.already-rsvped.volunteer-opp-message
for the Already RSVP’d message
.rsvp-closed.volunteer-opp-message
for the Opportunity Closed message
.error.volunteer-opp-message
for the Error messageHopefully this will help!

In reply to: [Wired Impact Volunteer Management] exporting dataThanks for reaching out @benham-design. You can export all the volunteers and their contact information using the Export Users to CSV plugin. Make sure you only export the users with the role of “Volunteer”. Unfortunately, at this point there isn’t a way to export RSVPs for specific opportunities or to easily download a list of the opportunities someone has RSVPed for. This is highly requested though and hopefully we can get to it soon.
Thanks.
Dan
Thanks for reaching out @joshirocks001.
The plugin currently doesn’t have a built-in way to categorize opportunities or display opportunities by category.
If you’re looking for a way to handle this manually, the best approach would be to create a page and create links to each opportunity with headings for each “category”. It’s a manual process, but would allow you to categorize the opportunities as needed.
Hopefully we will be able to include this functionality in a future release of the plugin.
I hope that’s helpful. Let me know if you have any other questions.

In reply to: [Wired Impact Volunteer Management] No sign up buttonHi @monerafahad,
The plugin does not include a way for site visitors to create opportunities. The plugin requires a WordPress user with a level of Editor or above to add opportunities through the admin.
If you’re looking for a way to do this manually I would recommend adding a form to a page on your site where organizations can submit the details for new Volunteer Opportunities. From there you could create the Volunteer Opportunity based on the information they submitted.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.

In reply to: [Nonprofit Board Management] Sort Board MembersThanks for passing along the feedback. You may be surprised to hear this, but in the five years the plugin has been publicly available we’ve only heard this request maybe two or three times. I definitely agree with you that it would be a nice feature to add, but given we offer the plugin for free, it’s really difficult for our team to spend a ton of time building out lots of new features. We would love to do more of that, but in order to support our business paid work comes first.
In regards to the features we do add, we try our best to focus on adding those features that will provide the most value to the most people using it, while not creating any major maintenance issues down the road.
Have a good one and let me know if you have any other questions.

In reply to: [Nonprofit Board Management] Sort Board MembersWhen I refer to
winbm_users_serving
I’m actually not referring to a file at all. WordPress has a system of hooks that allow you to modify code without changing the source files. In this case, you would use thewinbm_users_serving
filter hook to modify the board members without changing the plugin’s code directly. That way the next update to the plugin won’t wipe out your changes. You can read more about WordPress hooks by going to https://developer.www.ads-software.com/plugins/hooks/ and https://developer.www.ads-software.com/plugins/hooks/filters/. It is worth noting that utilizing hooks is something that will require a knowledge of PHP coding to accomplish.Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions.
