In reply to: [Nonprofit Board Management] Video showing Board Member ViewThis is a great question @lalbright. If the user has the “Board Member” role all of the default WordPress dashboard widgets will be removed. The only dashboard widgets they will see are “Board Members”, “Upcoming Board Events” and “Board Committees”.
On the menu on the left, they will be able to access a “Profile” link to change their information, and the “Board Mgmt” menu and all of its subpages.
It’s worth noting that it’s possible for other plugins to add dashboard widgets and menu items, so I can’t guarantee that’s all board members will see on your site.
Let us know if you have any other questions.

In reply to: [Wired Impact Volunteer Management] Getting the opportunities onto my websiteNo worries at all @dustinschwanger. We’re happy to help out.
To display the volunteer opportunities on your website, you’ll need to include the following shortcodes in the page content:
[one_time_volunteer_opps]
(for one-time opportunities)[flexible_volunteer_opps]
(for flexible opportunities that don’t take place at a specific date and time)
Give that a shot and let us know how it goes.

Thanks for reaching out @ncsrandalltextiles. It looks like this is an issue with some CSS styling that was added to the site. In particular, this CSS code is being output on the page:
.entry-title { display:none; }
It’s possible this code is being output using Method #1 outlined at https://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/how-to-easily-add-custom-css-to-your-wordpress-site/. If so, all you have to do is remove that code and the page titles will start showing up again.
If the CSS provided above is not output using Method #1 from that article, then this issue is likely caused by another plugin. I would recommend deactivating all the plugins, then reactivating them one at a time to figure out which one is hiding the page titles.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.

In reply to: [Wired Impact Volunteer Management] Buttom Custom TextThanks for reaching out @vanessenstudio. In order to adjust the content of the heading and button text the easiest thing to do is to change the volunteer opportunity so it’s a one-time opportunity at a fixed date and time. The system is set up to display “Express Interest in Volunteering” as the heading for flexible volunteer opportunities and “Sign Up to Volunteer” for those that are at a fixed date and time. The button will say “Express Interest” for a flexible volunteer opportunity and “Sign Up” for a fixed opportunity.
If that approach won’t work for you then the next best option is to work within the plugin’s templating system. To adjust the heading and button text you’ll want to follow these steps:
- Copy the plugin’s file at \wp-content\plugins\wired-impact-volunteer-management\templates\opp-single-form.php to a folder within the current theme called “wivm”.
- Adjust line 17 of that file to change the heading however you’d like.
- Adjust line 51 of that file to change the button text however you’d like.
By copying the file into your theme you ensure any changes you make won’t be lost when the plugin is updated.
Let us know if you have any other questions.

In reply to: [Wired Impact Volunteer Management] Removing WP sidebar, adding paddingThanks for reaching out Roger and we appreciate the kind words about the plugin. I’ll respond to both of your questions below.
How do I remove the sidebar on each opportunity page? The WP Sidebar Options Selector does not appear in the backend of these pages.
Unfortunately, the WP Sidebar Options Selector system is not default WordPress functionality so it’s almost definitely part of your theme or another plugin. It would be great to touch base with your theme’s support team or the maker of the plugin to figure out the best approach on how to customize the volunteer opportunity sidebars.
How do I add padding at the top of all opportunity pages to separate content from the header?
This is also related to your theme styling, but hopefully we can provide a little more support here. Can you send us a link to one of the volunteer opportunity pages so we can take a look?
Thanks and I hope you had a great weekend.
