In reply to: Can I make Explorer .post:hover with CSSwell… I’ve decided not to bother with it (for now!)
for this pointless blog anywayJust a little less color for Explorer users, no big deal.
Its interesting to see that it can be done in a round-about way though.
i hope my blogs not too ‘bling bling’ for Firefox & Opera users ??

In reply to: Layout in Explorer/Opera yuck..Firefox coolnot sure what i did but after mucking with the css its much better (still a bit more fine tuning tho)
Chunky: your tip on the ul helped a bit I think…
I created a
<ul id="pagelist">
and styled it to suit ??it seemed to play nicely with the ‘.page_item’s css so I dare not muck with it any more ??
thanks for the input

In reply to: Archives only Show part of postYou’ve got me wondering now
Can the search function be told how many results to be shown,
10 or 20 per page? (kinda like google)That way if you did find 100+ results you could thin the search down a bit without loading a big page.
ps: I’m not that fond of long pages either.

In reply to: Archives only Show part of postclosing the /em didnt work either ??
ps: i dont have a scrollbar, 102 posts or any worries about speed but i guess if your on 28k it would be a pain ??

Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: Theme: Kubrick 1.5 – AllSidebar EditionHey thanks a lot for the ‘all sidebar edition’ Kafkaesqui
It was a BIG helpThe only bit I’m trying to work out now is:
How the heck do I get the ‘Archived’ pages to show the original links in the posts? ??Forum: Everything else WordPress
In reply to: RSS feed problemOk I changed the error line to:
<?php echo <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
as thats what it looked like it was asking for. It makes the feed work but this hasn’t solved it.
I now have a non valid xhtml page ??
No Character Encoding Found! Falling back to UTF-8.
Line 5, column 61: there is no attribute "charset"
...a http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html" charset="UTF-8" ></meta>
ok back to the beginning and try to solve the MF!
great way to learn how it all works eh.Forum: Everything else WordPress
In reply to: RSS feed problemWell after many hrs I still havn’t fixed it….its FOOBAR*D ??
I’ve replaced “wp-blog-header.php” & “wp-rss2.php” with the originals.
The “wp-commentsrss2.php” is still working fine (thats whats odd).
I also replaced the links in the index in case there was something mucked-up in there so thats original now too.
After all sorts of fixes its still got the Parasing error ??
XML Parsing Error: syntax error
Location: https://sailingholiday.wiredkiwis.com/wp/wp-rss2.php
Line Number 1, Column 31:<?xml version="1.0" encoding="'. UTF-8 .'"?>
this is the out of the box code snip:
<?php echo "<?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"' . $charset . '\"?".">"; ?>
so I don’t know if this is the problem or if its something I may have in the head of the index?
I’ll just keep bashing away but if anyones got ideas I’m more than willing to listen ??
