In reply to: Just lost access to my pluggins section – help !Oh now ive found the culprit – I moved all the plugs to a temp dir and the plugin section worked again . Then I re-issued them one by one … and found it to be something to do with the cforms2 plugin. On loading it onto the server it simply broke the link to the plugin section.
I dont whether its the plugin its self or that is is conflicting with the existing plugs .
I will investigate further …

In reply to: Edit Post pageHi there …
Without adding any extra code / plugins etc you could simply try writing a page instead but enable comments .
Other wise have a look in the plugin DIR and you should be able to find one that can edit this.
there are probably lots of other ways but there you go ..
me too !!

In reply to: [Plugin: WP Security Scan] “Welcome to WP, please install your blog”@ Gangleri
I changed them to 666 to use your plugin (double checked after the initial mess of course) and when I use your plugin to change the prefixes, the chmod mysteriously went back to 644.
Ive had this problem before for another reason and found if the perms returned back to to what they were when you think youve changed them – then it could be the Group / owner of the file/folder not being assigned to the correct setting . The only way to check is by using something like filezilla and to correct it depends on your access to the files . Like me if youve got root access you can change them using something like WinSCP or simply ask the techies at your hosting company to correct them.
Hope that helped

In reply to: wp-shopping-cartstaceppa – the first guy to look out for with problems with wpecommerce is Shayne on the forum … top guy and will try his hardest to iron out any probs and is brilliant at custom jobs too !!!.
Any serious bugs need to be reported in the right place on the forum and they will most probably fix this for the next ver or if too serious email them direct.I’m not a wp ecom pro just someone who has had a lot of experience with the program . The program does sometimes hit bad patches but the ease of use , editing, overall features and cost of the program do out way for most of the time the problems that i have experienced.
It is essentially a feature rich e-commerce program that bolts onto wordpress and yes it can sometimes use parts of wordpress other plugins use.
My honest advice and this is something I’m going to do in future is treat this program like a stand alone program with its own wp install.
Install it on a fresh wp install use the existing theme and link it in to the blog. The program has its own widgets and i’m sure with a little tweaking these could be worked into the original WP install.Hope this helps !!

In reply to: Failed to write file to disk.Whooami – if you dont know how to fix something that someone is trying to find a fix for – why bother upsetting folk !!!! most of us guys and gals here just get on with each other not jump on each other!! Yes WP is great and there are many ways to skin a fish but you dont have to be so pompous with it !!!
anyway i know ive probably made another vein popup but hay i have the same problem …
Ive got at least 17 sites running on WP uploading images using the uploader but one is not and is bringing up ‘cannot write to disk’ and I have the uploads folder set to 777 on 2.5.1 install . Oh and I know how to upload images to the server and what not but the pneumatic systems engineer that would like this feature doesnt . And yes the reality is that there are folk in the real world using WP and would like the image up-loader to work !!! For all those out there having the same problem I use WLWriter to add images to my blogs its just my friend has a MAC and this isn’t compatible with WLW…Thanks
