So I only just got a message from the EventsCalendar support team saying the fix (for our issue) is in Version 6.9.1

We had the same issue with the events calendar Plugin creating a critical crash but only on sportspress pages, we raised a bug with the developers and they closed the case without out much feedback.

However I noted they released an update today and I applied it in my non-prod environment and it appears to be resolved, well at least it didn’t crash sportspress pages like before, so might be worth having a look

We use sportspress extensively as we run a sport website https://worldmastershockey.org/ and we have a subscription for it

And we also use the events calendar to showcase our tournaments

When we installed Yoast SEO all the Sportspress pages crashed with this fatal error

At first we approached the sportspress team and went through the diagnosis of logs. They pointed out that the crash was being caused by The Events calandar as you can see in the logs.

We deactivated the events calandar and left Yoast SEO on and all sportspress pages worked no errors.

Turning on the events calendar with Yoast active the crashes occur. When deactivating Yoast we still see errors in the logs but it doesnt crash our sportspress pages.

We have a staging site we can try a few things.

so I have customised the importer and it imports to the player record, but adds it to the custom fields of the player rather than the metric, is there a different way to get it into the metric? I tried using the name of the metric but it just added another custom field

@craigcotner try rolling back your plugin to 2.7.16?, you might need plugin WP Rollback to do that, worked for me. Note that any new player lists created still seem to have this issue. I just duplicated from a older player list and updated and it seems to have worked

So searching in the admin side for players, or players lists was broken, ie you couldnt. Player lists would pick a position (probably the first) when you edit and update, it would change all the players in that team. it just so happened the umpire was at the top of our list so editing a player list title or link would turn them all to umpires on the front end, pretty weird stuff.

Creating a new player list the button seemed to change to add a new post and it appeared that any player list created this way would have the sort list by rank and not player number. I found a work around later where if I found a previous player list that was working correctly with player number and duplicated it, it seems to be back to player number but there was quite a few reworks to fix the created player lists.

I guess we were unlucky as we were uploading a large international tournament data so it impacted us a fair bit
